Gladly.

Oh, did I forget to mention that every person I have met who deals with video editing on a Mac constantly reminds me of the numerous crashes they have with it?

you think a spoof youtube article backs up your argument? laughable.

could i not equally say that everybody i know in the academic world (and almost every media department) uses Macs? i could (and wouldnt be lying either) but it's hardly a strong case. Being such a lover of youtube as you seem to be, search for the presentation bill gates gave about XP, and laugh when it crashes in front of the audience. genius.

A machine is only as good as its operator.

^I couldn't agree with you more, necare. Macs are superior for graphic design. My school, Hempfield in Lancaster County, one of the best in the nation, uses Macs for their computer arts program. I know that macs are excellent for graphics just from popular opinion, and from what I've experienced. Whereas PCs are superior for gaming, just because PCs are more readily supported. Dont get me wrong, I myself am a PC man.

And yes, a machine is only as good as its operator. I have NEVER received a "blue screen of death" on my PC, simply because I keep everything under optimal working order.

Lol, I know next to nothing about maintaining an OS, yet I've had XP running on an outdated, POS laptop (with an 8mb GPU) pretty much since it came out. I still run 2000 on my desktop (the one I'm using now). The only thing that has ever crashed my laptop is compatibility issues between XP, Vet and an obscure program called VirtualDrive. And even then, it just needs a reset and it's good. And my desktop has never failed.

The YouTube video didn't back up my arguement at all; I felt like posting it and I did.

As for your, "an operating system is as good as its operator" arguement, obviously not true. A chimpanzee can work a Mac. All you literally have to do with a Mac for it to crash while working on a program is do exactly that; work on the program. Just use it and it will crash. Schools, especially design schools, will go with Macs as their computer programs because, as I said, Mac gives them a better deal. I worked for a graphic business card designer and all he had were Macs. Want to know what he used at home to work on? A PC. All I remember at his job was hearing from co-workers were swears when the Mac just "unexpectedly quit." Also, once again, your whole "operator" theory isn't applicable; these were college graduates with at least a B.A. in graphic design; you believe they didn't know a Mac inside out, then you need some help. Over all, the Mac is an inferior computer. Period.

For the last time, Miscrosoft does NOT need a game to get people to buy or switch over to using Vista. It's operating systems are on 90% of the world's PC's, all they needed to do was build it, and you will come. 80% of the of the people reading this will have Vista in the next three years. As I said earlier the Live Anywhere service is going to be Vista-Only so thats why H2V will be vista only.

There's an edit button; use it. We've already discussed it and we're going off topic; haven't you noticed many Maw threads end up that way? :)

In the end, if you like a Mac, then stick with it.

EDIT: The site to where I used to work

that's quite funny you think that's intensive graphical processing (i.e. the macs forté). you wouldn't need a specialist PC / Mac to do any of that! you could do it on photoshop for christ's sake!

Hooray for the Mac vs Windows thread!

Why should you buy Halo 2 Vista? Good question. Can't give you a good answer yet, as there is just not enough details about the Live/Autoaim stuff...

They may NOT charge for the Live stuff (maybe, maybe not who knows, its still a rumor at this point)... everybody thought that they were going to charge for the new, extra content in PREY, but they didn't... so ya never know...

It was also his location for video editing as well.

Also, I don't see you designing professional business cards as well. You make it sound like as if Photoshop is a child's tool; just because children download it illegaly to make forum signatures doesn't mean the program is simplistic. If you or anyone else was told to design a business card of that quality in 20 minutes or less you'd fail miserably.

You should change the title to "So, why the hell SHOULD I buy Vista?"

That's kind of the point, and so far I don't see a reason to. Note that this was one of the most common things said in the PC gaming community about Halo PC, and that brought a whole hell of a lot more to the table than Halo 2 Vista is, without liabilities like an unneccesary OS upgrade and pay for play.

Figure a couple of hundred bucks for the OS upgrade. That's Unreal Tournament 2007, Gears of War and Prey right there I could buy instead of buying Halo 2 a second time.

Halo PC I could forgive. Bungie had never ever done anything aimed at the PC FPS market. They made some Mac stuff like Marathon, and then they went over to consoles.

However there is no excuse for what we are seeing here. A guy running into a wall in the dark is forgivable. The same guy, with the lights now on, running full tilt at the same wall is not.

photoshop =/= intensive graphical processing. to do you understand that?

i never said it was simple to use. (in fact, it's not too bad, you could actually go to a class / follow online tutorials / buy a photoshop periodical if you didn't know how to use it.)
"these were college graduates with at least a B.A. in graphic design". i'm not sure about the quality of degrees where you come from, but you don't need a degree to use photoshop.
