Im not sure if anyone has tallked about this or if both are already going in, but here are my thoughts on some things Halo

Halo 2 needs to have splitscreen for Xbox Live. This will allow you to have some quality Halo time with your friends while not having to set up multiple tvs and xboxs. And unlike games like Counter-Strike I dont think it would really matter much having people looking at their friends screens (LAN hacking). Another thing they should have is guests. This way all your friends who dont have a subscription (most likely because of no High-speed internet) can still play Xbox Live with you. However when a xbox has guests on it, it should only be able to play unranked games. This will stop people from just sitting around all day blowing up their guests in order to get a better rank.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Sounds good I hated the clans in UC and RTCW just killing each other all day so they could get a better rank. Like playing nothing but instagib matches in UC to artificially inflate your kill count.

Thats why if they DO put a ranking system on it, they should show the person they have killed and how many times, that way you can tell if they do it the stupid way.

I don't know, about the whole 'only able to play in unranked games' deal. I'd like to play with my friends in a real match. Maybe it could only update your ranking with kills against other with rank. However, they definately need to change it so that people with different xbl accounts can play on the same xbox.

Umm... I've read (most of) the messages in this thread, and I'm getting the sense that people don't think Halo 2 will ship with multi-player? I'm sorry, that's a retarded assumption. Of course Halo 2 will have multi-player - so much of the success of the first one was a result of it, Bungie would have to be tripping on acid (that's right - Bungie, as a whole, the entire staff, simultaneously) not to include that in. Surely they'll have XBL support, but they won't sacrifice multi-player to get it.

I'm looking forward to having a ranking system on XBL... getting to compare myself to other players, etc. Also, keeping track of kills, wins, losses, shots fired... it'll be cool to look back after a few months of playing and see your own stats.

By the way bungie is talking, and from the spoofer pic of all the boxes, and that we all agree they are real but empty, they all have the orange stripe on them, so they probably will ship with multiplayer.

what are you talking about no multi player. if you have xbox live you know you can sign in guests to play with you online. they are not talking about no multiplayer. they are talking about playing with guests on xbox live.

The War will wage forever; though with it's fury comes a peace that you will never know here.

I think that split-screen Xbox LIVE is both a good & bad idea. Here's reasons supporting each:

Good:
It's a good idea, because many people will learn about the wonders of Xbox LIVE from their friends. You could play alongside friends, and, in some cases, feel more at ease as you kill enemies and wade through corpses.

Bad:
People could take full advantage of subscribing by just going to friend's houses to play. That can cause a drop in sales of Xbox LIVE subscriptions. We should know that companies arent going to make descisions that constitute a drop in sales, and the loss of hundreds, thousands, even millions of dollars!

Guest players are a feature of all xbox live games aren't they? It was advertised as one of the main selling features of the service. So H2 will have it too.

I agree complete no 4 player online, no go.

Bad:
People could take full advantage of subscribing by just going to friend's houses to play. That can cause a drop in sales of Xbox LIVE subscriptions.

Oh no, we can't let M$ lose any money! Quick, I'd better go buy a PC since they might be struggling! Give me a break.

Could you please explain how Microsoft losing sales is a bad thing?

4 player split screen on live is the one thing I worry about. I've grown to love it thruogh XBC and don't want to lose it. There is absolutely nothing better than playing on team with your friends right next to you online. Even if bungie requires accounts for everyone of those 4 I don't care. I just want it.

I also think halo2 should be 4 player split screen, but If guest's sign in will they be able to enter a stats game because I could stick 3 of my guests on the opposite team and work up some nasty kill ratio's. If guests sign in it can't be for stats.

is anybody else concerned with xbox live being unable to handle, what i imagine will be, a huge influx of users once halo2 is released? i haven't really heard anything about that situation, and it's been keeping me up at night, frankly.

You can choose to believe this or not (I wouldn't blame you if you didn't) but one of my buddies got to play Halo 2 multiplayer during the Xbox live beta testing done my microsoft employees. During the testing there could only be two people on xbox live on one account. SO you and one guest. BUT he also said this 'the screen had four boxes but only two were turned on if that makes sense'. So it would be a logical assumption that they are working to make 4 person xbox live games possible (I mean 4 people on one xbox obviously.).

i would like to do a system link with 16 people... then take 'em all LIVE! that would be a blast, especially if another person did that...

32 people... utter madness...

you better have a really nice connection. We hooked four xboxes up to one connection via a LAN and tried to play Rainbow 6 on xbox live... Man that sucked. We couldn't play more then one game with out getting booted, and since you can't have a guest on that game we had to just duke it out amongst ourselves. So trying to get 16 people running on xbox live using the same connection... I'd have to imagine you'd need a T1 line for that to work well.
