I just wanted to get people's opinion on this. Do you think paintball is considered a sport? Why or why not?

Most people play it as a hobby, but there are professional leagues. So, yes: It's a sport.

It's on the Extreme Sports Channel in New Zealand, but it's probably more of a hobby.

Yep. It's becoming more widely accepted as a sport. Right now I am actually trying to get a marker and try paintball out. My father agrees with it and wants me to get into the sport, but my mom thinks it's dangerous and unhealthy to shoot at people(even on the field in full gear), and that a paintball could go through the visor of a mask and kill somebody, which is just ridiculous. Even if that was possible, they first test the speed with a chronograph before you go on the field and tone down the power of the marker if it's too high so it doesn't hurt anyone, otherwise you get penalized. So I'm trying to convince my mom that paintball is safe.

Well, you can ask me any question! I managed to get a paintball club approved at my school. I am now founder and president of the club! Ask away!

I consider paintballing to be an exercise in teamwork and tactics. And its also good exercise, which is always handy to stop you turning into Jabba the Hutt.

It is considered a sport, although there are better ways to exercise than taking cover and pulling a trigger...

I think that it's mainly considered a sport, but I think of it as a hobby. It all depends on point of view. I believe that marching band should be considered a sport (which most people don't) and I consider golf more of a pastime (though many people think it's a sport).

Not entirely true. Paintballing requires you to run. If you stay back the whole entire gaem, then you won't be able to have any fun. You have to run around a bit. Sure, it's not as tiring as cross country, but it will tire you out.

Yes it's a sport;
You have to physically (sometimes really hard) use your body in achieving a goal.
