Hi. I just recently upgraded my video card to a ATI Radeon 9250. And there is a small graphical problem for the Custom Edition of Halo PC. On the map Hugeass, whenever one of the Longswords drop a nuke, my screen goes black. I can still see text and the menu when I press escape. But I cant see anything else. It goes away after a few seconds but I can't figure out what is causing this. I know it is the video card because when I had a nVida GeForce MX420 in there this problem didn't happen.

Here are my stem specs.

Windows XP Professional
Service Pack 2
Intel Pentuim 4 1.60GHZ
256Mb of RAM

All the video drivers are up to date and Halo is updated. Does anyone have a solution?

Try changing shader options.

I think thast because of the gigantic explosion of noob heading your way. Hugeass isn't a very good map, but to answer your question, thats basicly the blinding light of the nuke. I get the same thing except it's white, no idea why yours is black, but it's soposed to happen. It doesn't really matter what color because you can't see through them either way.

Umm...if you have a good graphics card it should neither be white or black. But it turns black on my brother's 9200, so probably it's just lower end cards not having enough power, while higher-end cards (like my 7800GT) can render it just fine.

Yes, the nuke is nooby, but it sure is purty.... and the Mythos gun on Coldsnap.
Blue.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

What on earth was the point of upgrading from a Geforce 4 MX420 to a Radeon 9250? There's almost no increase in power, the only thing you get is basic Shader Model 1.1 with the 9250. Really, you should have upgraded to a Geforce 6200 or better. When you can get a 256Mb 6200 for £35/$60 there really is no excuse.

Heh, I used to have a 9250...they suck tbh. Camo shows up incorrectly, in fact camo people are much more obvious with it than without, and when I had my 9250, on Hugeass whenever someone dropped a nuke, I also got the black screen. Its your card's inability to render it correctly.

I upgraded mine to a Diamond X1600 Pro, but the AGP version, since my comp doesnt have a PCI-Express slot. Works alot better, cause I can play Halo at 1280x1024 res (same as desktop) with high quality now and minimal video lag.

Oh man, you made a big mistake in upgrading a MX420 to a mere 9250. The money you spent is furious with you. Go apologize. xP

Yeah, the 9200/9250 camo is weird, but I think that's what bungie intended, as it looks like that on one of their screenshots. Sure gives a heck of an advantage to those with the weird camo though.

The only reason I got the 9250 is because my friend sold it to me. Also I dont play anything more graphically advanced than Halo. Besides its better than what I had. The wierdest thing though is that on Coldsnap, it has no problem rendering the Nuke. It just really annoys me.

Oh and my computer is very good for only $100.

Way ahead of you, dude. You really should have saved up and bought a 360 earlier. I'm going to pre-order Halo 3 Limited Edition with my freaking name embossed in 24K gold in the back signed by everybody at Bungie.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I have integrated, and even my screen doesn't turn black when a nuke detonates.

I know exactly whats wrong. Your "freind" is a no-good scammer who sold you a crappy video card that can't render big, white explosions on somewhat well lit up areas.

Sugestion: Stick the card he sold you up his @$$.

Just kidding ;)
