Even as someone who has a 360, I was more than a little disappointed in Microsoft to hear that the new maps will only be available for 360. It seems like a greedy move to force dedicated Halo fans to buy a 360 before H3 comes out. It also seems like a desperate move on Microsoft's part, fearing competition from PS3, and trying to boost sales any way they can, no matter how shady. Moreover, it speaks volumes about Microsoft's lack of faith in their own machine, the 360; they have to rely on the Halo franchise once again to keep their console afloat. Obviously, we know how Bungie feels about the whole deal since they are distancing themselves from this decision in the announcement.
Very well put.. You've hit on a number of good points..
Microsoft is definitely banking on the Halo franchise while the PS3 taps into the nex-gen market.. I don't mind paying for new technology, but I also believe that it is unfortunate that they (Microsoft) would force a console upgrade to the 360 to play new maps for a game developed for the Xbox.
It speaks volumes for those who understand the dynamics of their mindset... For those who don't... Don't hate.. I am a Halo FrEaK.. and I will pay for anything "Halo related" regardless of price. The reality behind their decision making is a bummer though.. Respect your customers!!
