Subject: Should Bungie.net users be allowed to create their own threads?

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

I wish there was a good way to get people to use the search feature more often and not be making threads that have already been made.

Of course I understand that if something was discussed a year ago, this doesn't mean that the person should just add to a discussion that's no longer taking place. But people shouldn't be re-making threads for topics that were discussed only a week or a month ago.

When you try to make a thread, a screen should pop up that makes you type the subject of your thread, then it'll automatically search for that subject and say, "Look at all these threads that have already accomplished what you are attempting. Why don't you read some of them, and come back to make your thread after you've considered it all?"

B.net would cease to exist in this case.

I am, however, an advocate of a "level" system where newer users are not allowed to create threads until they have reached certain levels, and even then there would be a limit to how many new threads can be created per level.

That is to say, if you are a "Level 1" you would not be allowed, but perhaps you would be allowed two new threads per week at "Level 3."

Of course, the levels could be called something a bit cooler than just numbers.

I would seriously leave if it came to that. The only reason I can see why they would do that is because of spamming, and it's not even all that bad.

The truth is out there. We're just not looking in the right places.

Then what would be the point of having a forum if we can't express our ideas?

Should us normal users be allowed to create threads here in the forums? If we weren't allowed, then the amount of spam would drastically be reduced. Moderators should be the only ones allowed to create threads. That way, not only will spam be reduced, but Bungie will be able to ensure that only what they want to be discussed will be discussed on these forums. And it will help brainwash people, turning them into mindless zombies that Bungie can control.

This would not work, there are only so many moderators, and it is up to them to keep the forums clear of flaming, and malicious members who enjoy breaking rules. How would 60+ forum ninjas be able to create threads regularly (in every single forum) as in at least once every five minutes, come up the that many ideas for that matter, and manage the forums. If this were to happen we would get a huge decrease in activity not to mention 99% of the topics created would be gone. Although the sensitive eyes of the members here would be protected from spam, there would be almost nothing to do here.

"And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former
master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can
to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this
will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions. But I
would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall
be my example." -Mendicant Bias

To put it simply:

This idea would negate the purpose of a forum.

Get with the times.
Purple - better than white, black, yellow (tan) and Afro-Americans combined - is the colour of the future.

Making mods post only... That would turn this into a horrible place.
