Hey I was just in Gamespot forums and they were talking about how there will be no co-op over XBL. I remember there being talk about how there WILL be, but this was over a year ago. I couldn't find any hard information, and I trust what the forum users here have to say more. could anybody here help me out.

Thats seriously too bad, I wish we could have that, and I thought that would be a possiblity with Halo 2. I personally think playing co-op was better than playing multiplayer on the original, though that is hard to do...

It is more likely that co-op is not done over live or system link becuase the multiplayer levels and systems are very different to the campaign. Think about it for a sec:

To implement co-op in a multi xbox system, you will need to allow for more units in the map then normal multiplayer, larger and more detailed areas, AI would need to be implemented over the network as well. Also, Coop games would suffer badly from any lag (notice how the multiplayer maps have hardly any doors or moving parts in halo one?) distrupting the flow of the game. That is a lot of programming hours for a comparatively minor feature, isn't it?

We wouldn't want the game delayed just for that - at least I dont :)

I think much of the decision to not implement online co-op was because of the sitting next your buddy on the couch experience. Playing with some random person on Live wouldnt be the same. Granted, you could easily play with a trusted friend, but it still wouldnt be quite the same. Honestly, I'm a little disapointed that the online coop isnt in too, but ultimately I think it is for the best.

http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/halo2/default.htm
Not sure if this little flash advertisement on xbox.com homepage is to be taken literally or not.
Also has it actually been confirmed by bungie that there will NOT be any sys-link or live co-op, to my knowledge it was "no comment". If they have stated it, can someone link me to where its said.

Thanks.
