1) The shotgun utterly obliterates the Flood zombies scores better than any other weapon, when I thought Halo's 2 weapon system was supposed to be about choices. Not some
Uber-gun that's an essential to sucess in the last five levels.
2) Halo's covanant AI is bloody brilliant. Why throw all that away by introducing an ememy that can only run, swipe and fire blindly?
3) Flood cant use vehicles, and we all know anti-vehicle combat is some of the game's highlights.
4) It seems like Bungie knows all this. If the last five Flood-infested levels are so great why keep them a secret?
5) Halo seems to encourage conservative, intelligent fighting. The player is armed wih a rechargable shield, and the covanant prefer to stay back and fight on their own terms. Flood combat turns the game into a twitch shooter, where the skilled players don't stand out against anyone who can handle a shotty competently.
6) The little headcrabs annoy the hell out of me. They prevent the game from checkpointing if they're around, and having to seek them out wastes time, ammo and enjoyment.
7) Those giant puffy dudes? They're hell fun to shoot and watch explode, but it's much much too easy, and is a joke of a challenge.

I don't think the flood are dissapointing at all, as they are part of Halos' storyline. The reason they seem so mindless, and eager to charge at you with guns blazing, and limbs flailing, is because they we're once covenant, or human soldiers, and because they we're infected by a flood infection form they no longer have control over their own bodies. The infection form within the former covenant or human now has control over all motor functions of it's host. They may seem kinda mindless when it comes to battle, but they are actually quite intelligent, which is evident in Halo. If you listen to the monitor in the library, he says the flood are reparing your ship. So they are not mindless automatons by far. If you think about it, Halo would'nt be Halo without the flood.

yes, the storyline does require the flood, but i would prefer a more strategically-adept flood. I just hope that the flood becomes less prominent in halo 2.

The flood are the way they are, IMO, to provide a balance to the game. The covies are content to wait and turn the game into a pistol sniping fest. The flood aren't interested in waiting. They make for a much more fast-paced game where you have to shoot fast, keep track of how many rounds are left in the clip, run, keep track of multiple targets, and still not be pushed into a corner. Sure, anyone can kill a single combat form with a shotgun more easily then they can pistol whip a grunt to death, but when there's more than 10 of them who won't stop coming for you until either you or they are dead, and some of them have RLs and shotguns, then you get to see who's good in an intense firefight. You just don't get that with the Covenant. And there are people who prefer both methods of FPS playing.

If you think the flood are easy to survive, you probably haven't played enough Library or Two Betrayals on legendary. Or too much, I dunno.

I dont think that you can ask for much more from Zombies. Anyways Shotgun is not the be all end all gun, AR works well too if you know how to use it as well as the pistol.

i passed the two betrailals on legendary w/ the flood. i died 1012 times(i counted) on "the tunnels below" on my first try. then i figured out that the AR can shoot there arms off.

the flood is the perfect enemy because i go in kamikaze style. i hate hiding waiting for your sheild to recharge

The only reason the Flood are so dissapointing is that the makers were rushed and didn't have time to put in better AI and such...

The Flood got the AI they got for a reason, you guys.

The Flood is not some superbly intelligent species such as the humans or the Covenant. They have only one task programmed into their bodies: to infect other living forms in order to create more flood hosts.

They attack and attack with their superior numbers until their is nobody left to attack, and that is that. They aren't lead by commanding officers or anything. They're simply trying to do what they are meant to do: attack and assimilate.

And the exploding flood can be hazardous when grenades are left on the ground but you dont know it, or you dont see the flood till too late.
