The flood has been spammed with "PS3 SUX" threads the past year and particulary the last couple of months. Its been threads where flames could roam free and some has reached significant amount of posts. Now, the ps3 was launched a couple of days ago and today i saw the first "the ps3 is great" thread, needless to say that some ppl had a problem with this and responded there after. The "debate" wasnt worse than any of the "ps3 sux" threads, IMO not even close to that stupidity, but for some reason the thread got locked without an excuse ( as usuall although every mod jumps in and says that theyre all for comments when locking threads when its discussed here in the septagon).

So put the cards on the table Bungie, are the mods instructed to strike down on threads that are pushing for other consoles and if not why did they let all of them "ps3 sux" threads slide. They could have just locked the majority of them and commented it with "check the other threads before you post". At some point i actually thought that there was gonna be a "ps3 sux" sticky.

Lets not focus on the specific subject here but instead the inconsistency.

Paranoia much?

Bungie really, hardly guide us. We are pretty much vigilantes some days. We don't get specific instructions very often and the only inconsistencies are caused on an individual moderator level. I have never been told anything like "remove pro PS3 threads".

I mean, it is madness. I would rather devote myself to purging New Mombasa.

Im not really the paranoid type. I just find it odd that when someone for 1s gives the competitor a little credit it gets locked. This wouldnt even have crossed my mind if it wasnt for all those "ps3 sux" threads the mods just let slide. Its just ironic that it seems stricter in M$´s favor.

Most of the time it is because we let things just die on their own. We know we could lock every single thread for one reason or another, some loophole, but people need to be able to discuss fairly freely and openly in the Flood.

Honestly, if you see two threads that you think we being treated unfairly, PM a mod, they will either act or explain the reasoning.

Thats my second point. What happened to mod-comments when locking threads. I cant recall the last time i saw that although 90% of the mods were "pro" when that was discussed in a thread here in the septagon. Most ppl might not give a crap and in many cases its obvious to why a thread was locked but there are those moments where 10 secs of the mods time could come in handy. Not just for that particular thread but also for threads in the future. In the long run it might even save some time.

Well l will be blunt.

I reply as often as I can, I try to be an actively posting mod, however I'm also the mod that gets in the most amount of strife because of that. We lock based on opinion, if we post an opinion we get called corrupt.

I am dealing with that as I type this.

Posting before locking tends to lead to people attacking the moderator as it is the only 'face' they can put to the reason their thread was locked.

You are not corrupt? Then why have I been paying you all that money??

As for the OP I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you have any questions as to why a thread was locked just PM a mod. If you see one that has posted recently then PM them because chances are they are the ones who did it.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

How is it possible to complain so God damn much. Jesus Christ, you'd think it'd drive the moderators nuts.

I wouldnt judge a mod for posting his or her own opinion as long as it doesnt break any of the rules, ive seen atleast one mod that has a tendency of posting things doesnt correlate with his extra powers. Other than that its just a great thing when mods are posting IMO, it shows that you are there and cuts down on the stupid "one word"-remarks about relatives. Im not really here to critisize the mods because im overall thinking that your doing a great job this was just a glitch in the matrix i guess.

If you feel a moderator has abused their powers PM Achronos, and give him a reason why.

No do not do that, pm Achronos as a last resort. Achronos has too many other things he has to do to be bother with micromanaging the moderators personal opinions. There is no reason to be taking a personal strife upstairs just because of a single issue. If you believe that there has been injustice, or that a moderator has done something unfair then simply try to resolve it directly. Contact that mod, and ask them why they judged differently, and I am sure that they will answer your question. If the problem continues even after you talked to them, or they respond with profane language, then they are obviously unfit to moderate; and you should speak with their superior (Achronos).

As to the issue of inconsistency. There may have been personal opinion involved in the decision, but more than likely it was locked because of certain people flaming the ps 3, and those that supported it.

There is one more step before going to Achronos. Contact one of the "Master Forum Ninjas". If they can't sort it out (Which I'm sure they can) then and only then would you take the issue to Achronos.

Exactly three steps...

1. Direct confrontation, pm them ask them for a reason. If that fails.

2. Master forum ninja, ask them for help, give them the reason, and what you think should be done. If that fails.

3. Achronos, explain the situation, and what should be done.

The point is do not was Achronos’ time with immature disputes that can me solved at the basic one on one level. Its unfair to Achronos, and makes you look bad.
