You say goodbye, and I say good riddance.
I heard that Bungies using a new engine.According to an OXM right after e3,Bungie said that halo 3's gonna be using a new engine. This is what they said
"The game uses a new engine, but uses huge ammounts of learning and expirience from the creation of halo and halo 2."
Then they go on about how the new engine effects certain things graphicly. So if they announced that they're using the old engine,I missed it.

I think what we can establish is that we're all excited about the new gameplay additions to Halo 3 but the over all look of the game (i.e the graphics) leave a lot to be desired. If the detail on the screenshots provided really are as a result of Halo 3 being in the pre-alpha stages, Bungie would have no doubt commented about them, and about how they were subject to further enhancement. The fact of the matter is, Bungie, in terms of the visuals of Halo 3, have set a very low standard. Any improvements to the visual details will most likely fall short of what people's expectations are for Halo 3 and this is a fear that really needs to be addressed. And the CORE reason behind this is because Bungie are trying to use a distinctly "last generation" engine to make a next-generation game. I addressed my fears as soon as it was announced that Halo 3 would be made using the previous installment's engine and I see now that they were not without reason. I still have my fingers crossed that Bungie can pull through in the visual department, because if they don't, Halo 3 will be a serious let-down, regardless of how good the gameplay is.
