The United States of America-- STILL more rights than North Korea!

Cronin's Law----The New Flood Drinking Game

I think bungie oughta grant a few members moderator powers temporarily to combat the sudden influx of activity Halo2 will bring... The Rip Saw, Banshee Barron, Shai Hulud (A.K.A. Ix), and Recon 54 would be a good place to start I think. let them stay mods for a few months then back to members as soon as the activity goes down.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I think either Bungie will appoint more mods or they won't. This emergency mod thing is kind of dumb. Give them a taste of being a ninja, and then taking it away? If Bungie believes they need more mods, I would bet they would appoint more mods.

As soon as I beat the campaign, I'll be online a lot more than I have been. I still fear the french version spoilers.

I've a feeling that it won't be long after halo 2 until they pick any new mods that they intend to.

Yikes, the people over at New Mombasa are posting spoilers in the thread titlaes now. I had gone there for *literally* one second, scanned the page quickly, and I didnt catch much but it was extremely obvious that New Mombasa has been overrun. It's been flooded by ignoramus' of such a large number that nothing more can be done besides the inevitable shutdown of these forums.

I rather liked the "Step out of line and you'll be shot!" approach that was adopted during the ilovebees influx:-)

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

I believe they are still doing that. What they should do is close down New Mombasa for a week, ban all of the people who post in the wrong spot until Halo 2 comes out, and then re-open it with the slightly (and temporarily) diminished population. A mass banning right now could be only to the good.

They also need to start banning people for much smaller offenses, like making threads aimed at single users, and other such rules.

We are already doing mass banning. I banned nearly 25 people in one day last week. Maka banned something like 10 in one sitting today.

Who wants to be mod?

Right now, I sure as hell don't. No offence to the mods, of course- but right now there is too much (spoiler) crap out there.

Gee, man.. this is too much. I seriously can look at the downsides of someone being a mod nowdays as well as the upsides.

Although I'd love to be a mod (perhaps love it too much...), right now I'd throw away any offerings to become one. I pity the mods for what they have read in order to keep us more safe from spoilers. They probably don't even need to play Halo 2 anymore...

I wouldn't want to be a mod at this time at all. They're giving the non-Bungie mods time off so the game isn't spoiled for them. Unless Bungie gave the temp mods the game early so they could play it and then not have it spoiled for them, I don't think it would work.

in that case.. go get me a beer and some waffels, i want them ASAP!!!!!!!!!

if i was offered mod powers, i would say: Give me time to think.
if i would get them for a while, i'll have to read billions of spoilers and things i don't want to.
but in the other hand, at least i could help out and get rid of the jerks. you want to know how many times i wished i had a ban button.

Lol I think you should. You guys are doing a good job, but it's impossible to stem the tide of idiots. I have accidentally read one spoiler, but I think that it's probably not major. I really hope that its not.

Apparently I'm a threadkiller :(

I think you all misunderstand me... I didn't say appoint new temp mods now, I said appoint temp mods after the release of halo2. because if its bedlam now, imagine it in a post-9th world. scary.

No, I wouldn't think that would be a good idea. I think the mods are doing a very good job, and stosh doesn't have a problem telling us about banning on IRC, lol. What will help is the closing of the forums, which looks like most people want them closed.

I think the mods are doing a great job on the forums. This emergence mod thing probably won't work too well because no one would be on the forums to help out...they would be too busy play halo 2. I perfer just to PM them pointing them in direction in trouble rather having them search for it etc.

Locking out all the forums till Halo 2 comes out would be less helpful then you would think. Consider what would happen, people would migrate to other Halo 2 forums where real spoilers are. If they don't lock out the Bungie.net forums, the people who post spoilers here can easily be removed. This way Bungie has soem control over the population which uses these forums.
