*Halo 2 Vista*
**This is for anyone, who knows how to create Maps, and can code them into the Game!**

*Using Halo 2 Map Maker Program*
If anyone would be intersted in Starting a New Halo 2 Vista Map Design Website, please contact me. I thought it would be cool to make Cool, Detailed Maps for Halo 2. I am a 3-D Artist, so I can help very much.

* If anyone is interested, please read this.*

All maps will have Halo 2 Influenced Ideas, and Arcitecture.

We will have meetings, though a Chat Room, Consulting ideas, and new designs.

Thank You! And remember to post.

Hey, how can anyone know how to "code them into the game" and know "how to create maps"? H2V isn't even out yet, not to mention the fact that no one knows what the map editor will be like. By the way, you don't "code" maps into the game. That's a total misuse of terminology. So, yes I think it would be fun to help you create maps, I may even like to! However, I honestly can not tell you if I know how to make maps for H2V, aside from the fact that I've got experience with the Halo 1 HEK. So, you may want to reword your post asking if anyone who's interested and preferably has experience with the Halo 1 editing kit if they would like to be on a team with you.

The process is the same

The process of getting them into the game once made I will assume is relatively the same...however, since they're changing the current HEK to make it more user-friendly, we can't necessarily assume that. Also, I would imagine actually creating maps won't be the same at all. With Halo 1 you had to use a 3D app such as 3DS Max, GMax, or Maya. However with H2V, they're making their own level creation tool, IE... Max won't be required to actually create a model, also meaning that all the tools will either come straight out of the box or as a free download and therefore, no extra money is needed to be spent on $3,000 programs.

Yeah, you can assume the same. If it was different, then the game would be running on an entirely different engine.

moding in h2v, h1pc, and any other 3d game is pretty much the same.

No, it's not even close to the same. Try modding Halo 1, and then chaning to Unreal Tournament, it is so vastly different it's not even funny...at all. Or going from the Hammer Editor for Half-Life 2 to UnrealEd for Unreal tournament. The general concepts are still the same, yes, but each program is vastly different that you can not just pick up the Unreal Editor or the Hammer Editor after having used one or the other, and I'm surmising it will be the same with Halo 2. I doubt they will put GMax on the disc since it's still copyright Discreet, even though it's free. I guess I can't really say one way or the other how original the UI is gonna be for the H2V map maker, but no matter what it's for, you can't just pick something up because you know the principles. And IF it's ANYTHING like the available map editors (ACTUAL map editors like UnrealEd, Hammer, GTK) then it will be nothing like modeling, trust me. There is a very fine line between modeling in 3DS Max and making maps with a mapping program.

LOL, you make my day Mr map. You clearly haven't read any of the updates. Implying the HEK isn't an actual map editor is a stupid thing to do, as it clearly edits maps. Just because Bungie created its own tools to fit their work flow better, and it happened to be different from other company's way of doing things, doesn't mean its not just as powerful or useful. Personally, I think the HEK is a much more intuitive way to create content compared to Valve's Hammer.
