The PS2/XBOX/GameCube war is a great topic to talk about.
As far as I see it, the XBOX is the best for a number of reasons which I will later list. GameCube shouldn't really be a contender as it has nowhere near the capabilities of the latter.
The following is all MY opinion so no arguments.
PS2 is a capable system and is leading the sales only because people went out and bought one before XBOX came out (one year later(Trust me, they'd be kickin' themselves if they knew)). It has more games and a smaller footprint.
XBOX on the other hand is a better system largely due to the four controller ports and an 8GB HDD. The Controller is a shocker but Microsoft quickly overcame this with the S version. It has a large footprint, not as many titles (although we still end up with the best (Halo)) and a disappointing Music Mixer (compared to SingStar). XBOX also requires the DVD remote to play DVDs.
The truth is that PS2 fans continue to worship their consoles only because they don't want to admit they made a shoddy decision to buy a PS2.
It needs a AU$49.95 accessory (multitap) to play four player on one console, it needs a AU$59.95 accessory (memory card) just to be able to save your progress. Also, it costs AU$248.99 for a console, whereas XBOX's only cost AU$228.99!
I don't know about you, but I know which one I would have bought.
