Flame wars and repeated topics.

Also because quite a few of the members in there make worthless posts. Kind of like this one.

Edit: By the way that was directed at my own post not M3 Roki7's.

Oh don't worry about it. A post is a post. As long as you are adding to the topic it should be fine.

I agree. If you're not seeing a topic that has not already been made more than 100 times, you are seeing people spam and flame. That place tends to get alittle ridiculous (The Halo 3 fourms, that is.).

I don't know Bob, the Chat room your mom and I had last night was pretty sick...

But I think it just needs a little interaction of serious members to teach the new guys the ropes.

The Halo 3 forums are quite amusing, actually. While some of the stuff can get out of hand, mainly due to sheer idiocy, there is the occasional thought-out post that really makes the day.

And on the other hand, it is teeming with the mentally disinclined and those with terrible grammar and spelling.

That is the mis-conception, you guys here assume that the few that take time to make accounts on this forum are here to flame/ put down your thoughts about the opti-match aspect of halo. Well there a few and I have to be honest, some of your thoughts are a bit out there but thats neither here nor there, you guys assume that those few represent our community wholly, and that is not the case. I'm just trying to show you that there are most of us on that site, that are know that can type correctly and use some common sense and logic to make posts. Also the repeated topic's aren't usually that repeated as much as they are here, but I'm just assuming that because mainly if I come here its to view the opti-match forum and its always just someone complaining about MLG players or someone doesn't like a map or a certain playlists. So both site's have equally repetitive material.

Well, that is the way the halo 3 forums has been for quite some time. You see a topic that has some potential, and later it is shot down by flamers. And I have seen my share of repeate topics. Yes all the other forums have repeate topics, but the Halo 3 forums just has the same idea, over and over, one person taking credit for another persons idea. I could go in there now and probably find about 5 topics that have been repeated in the past. I have not visited that forum in about a year mind you. Yes, that may be because the game has not been released, nor are there many details about it. But a person could just use the search feature instead of posting a new one saying that theirs is better than the others. Yes, I know, this is in the case of any forum. But alot of time, like the flood for example, the thread that can be used to add on to the conversation is long past dead.

People make repeat topics to avoid being flamed for bumping, and also to answer your question about the flaming, frankly.. its all in good fun. If you can't take a little insult on a forum I don't really know what to tell you. And the reason that the flaming is tolerated is that Z has made a private ownership domain that has the highest members of a halo forum besides mlgpro.com. And the reason is that it is allowed is that all that flaming keeps the site alive, it keeps opinions going and puts a little bit of a pep into the step. I see nothing wrong with it, I understand that the site is very lenient but the site wouldn't have so much personality if it was any different.

How can flaming be in good fun? Yes a person that you do not know is insulting you, but how is that fun? A person would only be flamed for bumping a thread in anyother forum if the topic was stupid, not if the topic was good and you have something to relate to the topic and want to add to the discussion. And honestly? Just because someone made a halo forum with the highest members means diddley to me. It does not give the right to be able to flame whenever a person wishes. And a forum is not flame tolerant because of a member that created a site, it is tolerated because, from what I hear, no mods go in there that often. Aswell as it is tolerated because it is the Halo 3 forum. The exact same thing happened in New Mombassa when Halo 2 was announced.

The only reason the Halo 3 forum is so naughty is because all the new members go right there to talk about Halo 3 before they know anything about the forum. I went right to New Mombasa the second I joined. Maybe make the awesomest rules thread and sticky layout ever there with absolutely everything new members need to know and it'll help.

How can flaming be that big of a deal? Are you that insecure with yourself that you take all insults recieved as a directly as if they know you? It has nothing to do with the highest members the point is that Z made the site, he profits off of it, he will allow the flames to continue in the pursuit of keeping his members happy and staying there. Mods are on there constantly, but they know that people have opinions and there is no reason to silence them, as vulgar and offensive as they may be at times. Saying that you dont like h3f because of flaming is just completely invalid.
