Yes, as a matter of fact, flaming is that big of a deal. Flaming is what the se7enth column community as a whole tries to reduce. Please, let us not reduce ourselves to flaming one another, please. How is saying that I dislike the halo 3 forums because of flaming invalid? And who is this "Z" guy you keep talking about?

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

The most noticeable problem in the Halo 3 forum is the repeat posts. People find something, open up the forum and just hit "New Topic" without reading the first page, let alone the second and third...

I think the mods need to enforce the repeated topics rule with a blacklisting for the first offence, and deletion of repeated posts.

Deletion of topics is, in my opinion, used too little on the whole. It's irritating to go into the H3 forum or Optimatch, and see good topics be bumped off the front page by junk. Simply locking those threads means that the good topics are still bumped off the front page - deleting them would be more effective.

The problem with that, however, is the posting of "Where's my thread gone?" topics...

That is exactly my point. But with the flaming bit added on.

The flaming really shouldn't be that big of a deal at-all, who cares if somebody makes fun of you, we aren't training adults with these websites, just try and keep the childish insults to a minimum. Also there are very few repeated topics, the 2 top main sections on h2f are the Videos section and the off-topic and very rarely do we ever have repeated topics.

I think it's just another forum. For example:
I'm a "Floodian," because 90% of the time I'm on Bungie, I'm in the Flood. Many people in the flood say that people in the Halo 3 forum are idiots. Who's to say that they don't think the floodians are idiots. Who's to say they don't think people in the Septagon are idiots!? It's just another forum, it's not like it's a whole different world of strange, idiotic aliens. It's just, as I've said a few times now, another forum.

I agree though, I can't stand being in the H3 forum for too long. I...just can't take it.

You speak with truth.

But you have to realize, your average 14 year old Halo 3 enthusiast is not going to read the Rules and use the Search Bar prior to making a making a thread upon creating an account.

What he wants is to be heard. And he expects to be heard. The problem is, we've all heard it, and most of us have heard it enough. That's where the

"Use the damn Search Feature"
and
"STFU you're wrong"

Threads come from. And I can sometimes see why such harsh responses are used. But they aren't justified at all.

We've all wanted to be heard at some point. That you can't deny, because that's why you come here- to interact with others and hopefully get some people to agree with your thoughts. But in the Halo 3 Forum, since there are so many repeat topics and people don't say good things about them, at the end of the day people wind up leaving this forum with hurt feelings because people made fun of them for an idea that they (the thread creator) thought was good.

That's why I'll try to contribute to a topic as best I can, no matter how many times I've seen it. And I've noticed others are doing the same, which makes me feel that there's hope for that forum.

But I've also seen people say "This place is mean, what kind of forum is this?" and that's not the impression people should be getting from this site.

The Halo 3 Forum has it's purposes, and it suits it well. If you don't feel like discussing Halo 3, just don't go in there.

Oh boy this made me laugh.

Garbage Man look at the forum bar on the right of the screen. Notice The "Halo 3 Forum" in the bar? You are talking about "halo3forum.com" everyone else is talking about the Bungie.net sub-forum "The Halo 3 forum". Funny thing is though, the comments are rather interchangeable between the two forums.

My thoughts on the halo3forum.com is pretty much that it's poorly moderated, the graphic signatures are an eyesore, and that people like to use profanity to express their opinion. The forum skin is ugly, and there's alot of ads.

Unintentional comedy FTW.

Yea I didn't really notice that, but I thought that it was clear that I'm talking about halo3forum.com, and how is it poorly moderated? The mods there are very lenient and they allow for people to express their opinions and an at least somewhat suitable way. They are very active and all the more lenient rules to be bent and the glass rules to never be broken. And no offense but the bungie skin is not an eye candy by any means, and the ads are their for profit, I mean one guy owns the site, he's got to make some money from it. And profanity, its the first amendment if I want to express my option to say -blam!- the law, then I should be allowed. Also the sigs that people have add to the personification of our users, they distinguish certain personality's of people.

Ok cool but I don't get why you're saying this, It's not like your going to change my mind with words. It's personal preference. If I don't like something I don't care what the explanation for it is. I mainly use the site for video's and that's what I see.

The look of forums is subjective but can you compare a forum with the manufacturer's default skin to one fully customized?

O RLY? Interesting. Because I recall the forums use to look pretty crappy until the New Hawtness. I love these forums. They're simple, they're easy to use, and the layout isn't crowded. Whereas Halo3Forum.com really is crowded, with way too many forum topics.

Yeah, that's a given.. Bungie.net doesn't have ads, because it's not here to sell. This isn't a "Buy our game and hear about it!" website, it's a "Discuss our game and hear more about it!" website. Bungie already knows we're buying their amazing games. And there's enough info here to do that. Of course, these past 4 sentences are almost besides the point. Fan sites with no income from the site should have ads, if they want to get any money from it.

You have no rights here. If Bungie says you can't use excessive profanity, then you can't. This website is not governed by the United States Government. It's a private website, and the administrator can enforce whatever rules he pleases. You don't have freedom of speech here, hippy.

As for custom signatures and such, people do, and will, abuse it. It's not even worth debating, if you've been around for more than a few years, any of us could tell you the weirdos that come here and can ruin the forums for a few hours when a moderator isn't around. It's not worth the hassle, and huge, flashing signatures are obnoxious.
