if they bring out halo 3 (which they better do) i think it would be really cool if it was a prequel rather than a sequel because i think it would be cool fighting alongside other spartans before halo got descovered

Yeah I was thinkning that a while back. It would be cool if say, your the team that goes to investigate whats going on at harvest and its your first encounter with the covenant. you play as a SPARTAN who isnt supposed to be mc. Then, after learning more and more you realise you are master chief but younger. Any way something like that would be good but I doubt bungie would do that.

i think a third halo would have to be a prequel because isn't halo 2 unofficially supposed to end the war/game series. as for there being less spartans i think theres a way around that. start the game before the covenant war when they go on covert missions against the rebels (like their first mission in first strike) and then do missions up to the fall of reach and thus finishing the game at the first halo. don't forget that in the book, fall of reach, there are huge gaps in years as john grows up to present (in halo terms) he will have partaken in hundreds of battles alongside his fellow spartans before most of them die at the end. this fact also allows bungie to use their imagination a little. as a final note, the actual 'fall of reach' level with the huge covenant invasion would be an absolutely fantastic level and ending to the prequel.
now that i think about it.........Bring on Halo 3, a prequel game would be amazing. the subtitle of origins or something like that would suit it too rather than fall of reach (even though that battle would be included) so the ending isn't given away to those who can't read

I hate prequels. I'll leave my reasons why with Star Wars. Enough said.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

maybe u all have done some reading, but clearly not enough. Halo 2 is the end of the series. not the end of the story's timeline, not the end of the master chief, it is the end of halo the game series itself. there is no halo 3, bungie is moving on to, amazingly, bigger and better projects. look forward to that, but not to a thrid halo. you'll only be disappointed. And if you dont believe me, and many of you wont, perhaps you should look up one Electronic Gaming Monthly, November 2002 Issue, Halo 2 feature, and i quote, the "battle that follows will bring...closure to the Halo series, something that was missing from the first game."

If there is a Halo 3, than it would most likely be for the Xbox 2.

I look at that I'm not saying your wrong and your more thank likely right. But that was 2 years ago. Thing may change. All i'll say is we won't know how much is closed off until Nov. 9th. Also 6 months after that bungie may change their minds. -blam!- things have happened than that. I don't know how many times the Final Fantasy series has been siad to be done for. Then they just make another 6 months after it comes out. We won't know till the Old fat lady squeals.

Well just think, that if Halo 2 sells more copies in the first year than Halo 1 has up until now, including PC, and also sells like 5 million more XBOX's, I think they might just reconsider making a Halo 3, whether it be a prequel, or a sequel even far into the future after MC, hell, maybe they use his DNA to clone him or something, you never know.

In addition to GOD Halo Fan's reply, I think that all magazine articles should say that it is an opinion if that's what it is. That article was 2 years ago and a lot has changed. EGM should be the last magazine you should consider for truth anyway. OXM will be the closest to truth other than the Bungie crew themselves. Frankie, former writer for OXM, is now working for Bungie (old news) and is able to talk straight to OXM about anything that he is given permission to. So, and this goes for all new readers as well, don't rely on ANY magazine for the "truth". Bungie is the ONLY source that you can actually get the truth from. OXM is second due to their "inside man", but not entirely accurate. That's all I have to say. Can I get an "AMEN"? j/k

Wow read my mind. When I saw the forum subject I came to mention my thoughts for a prequel. I guess Im not the only one out there that thinks a prequel would be fitting. Up until now the MC has won every battle he has engaged in. Which in my opinion made the flood a boring book, but if they made a prequel to halo that would be awesome. Theres something awesome about knowing that the odds are too stacked against you to possibly win but you will take as many as you can of those bastards out with you, or actually being the last spartan. Bungie would be stupid not to further persue the halo series after all the money they have made with it and the success it has seen. Besides I have always wanted to take on like 300 grunts or so. I feel that it is my destiny.

AMEN

LordXanatos> Bungie will do whatever Uncle Bill tells em to do, including makeing a halo 3 to sell more xbox's (perhaps help launch a future Xbox 2), or just to make more money off this growing franchise. Halo spurned one of the largest video game followings ever, I mean look at red vs blue, halo.bungie.org, the booth at e3. No other video game has caused such a huge buzz in or outside of the gaming community, and if the demand for a halo 3 is there, Bungie will budge.

BTW> props to the ideas floating around up there, a preqel sounds cool to me.

peace

I feel that we'll have to see the extent which Halo 2 SP covers, and how much story will be seen. It's going to be important in making the game tough and interesting, so don't think that the 3rd game will be a unbalanced fight with mankind winning. I just feel that Bungie will introduce another hostile/friendly in Halo 2, much like Marathon 2, and the story will continue from there.

Well with the covie's holding the enitre omega wing of our galaxy there's alot of ground to cover. Unless there is a big bust up in the covies political structure. Thus there could be alot of story left. Plus what is going on in the other Halo's last time I read there were 7 rings. Been a while though so I might have gotten the nuber of the wrong. And who knows mabe the Forerunner move into another galaxy. Bungie has some serious hole pluging to do if they intend ot finnish the story off in Halo2.
