Heyyo,
Kindness is right, it's a DVD drive, xbox also has a nvidia video card (it's a geforce3), but xbox2 is probably gonna have an ATI card innit. M$ and Nvidia had arguments over xbox ownership (or something like that) and now lots of people say the next xbox will have an ATI innit. (Maybe a rumor, maybe not...).
And yeah, I'm sure if your PC can handle Doom3, it can handle Halo2, as long as it's ported very nicely. The only game I know that works great on consoles n' PC's alike that's fairly new is Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Mainly cause it's on the Unreal Engine and Unreal Ports very nicely to consoles. This's why Tribes: Vengeance also ports nicely to consoles (it's on the Unreal Engine as well) but yes, they did need to crank down the settings to get it to run nice cause of xbox's age restrictions (remember, it's just a Geforce3). Another hour and I'll have the video configuration file on the net.
Oh wait, I know another game that runs great on consoles too: Max Payne. Then again, Max Payne was made around the time of Geforce 3's I belive, so that's why it looks incredible on xbox's and PC's.
So yes, Kindness, all your statements are true. But you should've gone a bit more indepth with the gearbox situation. They did do a bad job, but they never got time to properly finish Halo. I'm sure if M$ diddn't push them for a release date, HaloPC would've turned out better. What gearbox tried to do was build a whole new game engine, and inna year, I think it turned out ok (remember, the Unreal engine has been in the makings for years, same with the xbox engine that Halo1&2 for xbox uses...). HaloCE is gearbox's attempt to set things right. And yes, it turned out MUCH better than HaloPC, but still needs some work on that netcode, and graphics optimizations, cause Far Cry's much more higher detail, and I can crank the graphics higher on that game no problem with my ATI Radeon 9600 PRO.
