I was concerned about achievements that will be available for the 360 via H2V. I was wondering if some of the achievements would be online ones, where you had to kill so many people with stickies, or get so many medals. I believe those aren't fair achievements for a game to have, since everyone does not have a high-speed connections and cannot obtain those achievements all the time. For example: Call of Duty 3 for XBox 360 has about 10 achievements that are purely online-based achievements, and they also contribute to about 1/2 of the game's entire achievement points. Gamers who buy CoD3 and do not have a high-speed connection are SoL, and can't achieve those points unless they gain access to a high-speed connection wither by buying it or going to someone's house who has it.

Also, if there truly are going to be achievements for H2V that will contribute to one's total XBox 360 gamerscore, what will the achievements be?

Dude Halo 2 Vista is for computer, not the 360. Vista is the new OS for computer not platforms.

However, in terms of "medals" or "acheievements", as some say rank scoring and matching destroyed the xbox matchmaking. Scores can easily be thrown off or manipulated. Plus medals should not be based on what connection you have, it should be based on skill. LOL if the gameplay is anything like Halo, which everyone has mixed feeling about the lag, the some medals would be hard to achieve. I think everyone agreed that we want the same lead and skill required without the OMG WARPZORZ, and the OMG LAG.

I hope I answered your question, it didn't make much sense to me to begin with.

Why in the name of almighty God would you want leading in Halo 2?

Easy, it requires more skill plus there is a slight realism element to it. NOW I'm not saying lead with every weapon, sorry if you thought that's what I meant, only lead with the sniper.

I mean if you think about it, if you shoot cross country odds are your target can move just enough to where you might miss. I personally love having to lead because it requires more skill. I don't mind leading with all weps, however, it would be nice if the lead was semi-constant, and not neccesarily based on server speed.

Leading is where you have to aim a little in front of your target because of the lag.

Just to let you know there is leading H2 Xbox

I.E. On Coagulation if you aim at the head at a player on the other side of the map while they are strafing the shot will miss them and you wud have to lead the shot pretty much like H1PC leading.. but not lag actual bullet time..

Indeed, except it is because of lag/latency. When you're host you don't have to lead at all across Coag.
EDIT: Okay, maybe a tiny bit, but offhost, the lead is uber.

There should be no leading(kinda), and no lag imo...

As in no-leading, I mean, if you're standing 2 feet away from somebody, you'll still have to lead, as far as if you were across the map. What I think, is that bullets should take time to travel... ie, if you were 2 feet away from somebody, there should be no lead... but if you were across the map, there should be some, because the bullet would take time to get the the other side.

Some may call me a hypocrite, but make sure you know what you're talking about before you post. Windows Vista is Microsoft's next operating system coming out this year.

Hey, to everyone who has transformed this into a "leading to kill with a headshot" thread. Thank you.

Yes, I do know what I am talking about. Halo 2 Vista will support achievements that contribute to your Xbox 360's account's gamerscore. At least, that is what everyone who I have asked has told me, which is about 30+ random people if you exclude my close friend who is a computer wiz.

I guess this just isn't the place to ask this sort of question. I am sorry if I have bothered you all.

You should have made that clearer, and mentioned Gamerscore instead of the Xbox 360 itself. I think possibly, but I'm not totally sure. I think they might have a separate Gamerscore for Games for Windows™ and games on the Xbox 360.

I'm sorry, and yes I should have been more clearer. I am still unsure whether or not there will be gamerscore available for one's Xbox 360 gamerscore through Halo 2 Vista, but thats all I have heard, and I was wondering if someone in hear would know about it for sure, and what the achievements might be, because Halo 2 Vista is on my top priority for my next Bungie Game, besides Halo 3 of course, which is still a ways away.

If there isn't lead in Halo 2 Vista it will fry my brain. No lead will disrupt my view of the beautiful ballad of plastic explosives primers igniting powders that is Halo, and I will forever shoot four feet in front of every target until I will exclaim "ZOMG HAXORZ!!1!" for all to hear whenever I lose.

Everyone, sorry to ruin your fun, but this thread's topic is on Halo 2 Vista's compatibility with Xbox 360 gamerscore, not leading.

Halo 2 will not have leading, do you know why? Because the sniper rifle is about 500+ years more advanced than our own sniper rifles, and in turn would be faster, stronger, and deadlier. Also, there is lead in Halo 2, if you have played Coag or a really big level, you have to lead the shot. Or, if they are in a vehicle, and driving at a certain angle, you must lead then to hit them.

End of that topic, now let's get back on topic.

Heyyo,

Last I remembered hearing... there won't be any kindof stats for the H2V servers. They said they might make it so dedicated server operators can get stats dumped into a file so they can post them online for that server (IE. Counter-Strike with stats plugins such as StatsMe)... I'm sure it's in one of the news columbs that Bungie made.....

ah here it is... the Halo2Vista FAQ news release...

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=halo2vistafaqup date

Will Halo 2 for Windows Vista boast the same detailed ranking and stat tracking systems as Halo 2 online via Xbox Live?

No, H2V won’t feature the same global ranking system currently supported by the Xbox version. We are opening up the online experience to better fit the PC platform and provide more flexibility for players. While there is no global stat mechanism, we are investigating the ability for dedicated server hosts to gather and display their own stats for their own servers.

but one thing I find interesting is a couple questions up...

What’s the deal with Live?

Live is a feature of Windows Vista that brings many Xbox Live features to Windows. For example, a Halo 2 for Windows Vista player who signs into Live will be able to find and join H2V matches worldwide, earn Achievements, create lists of Friends, invite others to games, and send personal messages.

.... why must Bungie toy with my mind? =P

No, not the end of that topic. It's clear you don't know what we're discussing, and that you've never played Halo PC long enough or not at all if you don't know what we're talking about.

We're not talking about leading our shots while taking in factors of wind, distance, etc., we're talking about leading our shots in order to compensate for latency itself. Halo PC's netcode is so frigged up that it forces you, even with a fast internet connection, to fire your projectiles ahead of the direction they are going.

If you wanted to three shot kill a player and they were running to the right, what one must do is aim the reticule about an inch or so (depending on your ping) to right of the player's head. If you shot him directly it would have no effect whatsoever, you have to aim ahead of him because you and the host server does not synchronize correctly like it should. But otherwise, sniper rounds or pistol bullets reach their destination almost instantaneously.

Yes, but seriously, let's not get off-topic.

I think that we should have achievements for the level of difficulty one achieves the Campaign. Maybe a large achievement for Legendary and smaller achievements for the easier difficulties?

Wow, were you always this stupid or were you tutored?

The Sniper rifle of Halo, and the rifles of today are pretty much identical. They still operate on oxactly the same principles. Propellant ignites and sends the projectile down the barrel. The physics have been the same for the last 500 years, and they're obviously the same in the next 500 years. Unless mankind finds a way to change the laws of physics. Just because something looks futuristic doesn't mean it's any better than what we have today.

And guess what Parker, we're talking Halo, not Perfect Dark. Awards and medals and that crap is fine for perfect dark (BTW: Perfect Dark for the 64 was WAY better than ZERO) But Bungie didn't include awards/medals in Halo for a reason, and they're not about to start because some lameass fanboi thinks it'd be cool.
