Perfect Dark Zero was a huge disappointment, sorry.

It truly was, I've been a fan of the original ever since it was released. It was so well made. And I couldn't believe all the features they crammed into a Nintendo 64 cartridge (given that you need an expansion pack to unlock about 70% of the game) I think it was in '99 that the first rumours for PD zero leaked out. I was so excited. 6 years later... Sonuvab*tch!

Was Rare even involved in PD zero? Because if they were they wouldn't have let the game fall so far.

I don't know why you call it leading. Its not leading, its compensation for lag. I don't want to have to do that.

What it is.

just in case no one has pointed this out yet but Xbox Live is connected with Windows Live, in other words, your GamerCard is both for Windows Live and Xbox Live, so i am sure in the future, PC games will soon have achievements...

Here are PD0s expect something similar but more Halo orientated:
"A bunch of PDZ's Achievements"

These are the type of achievements, especially the online ones, that I want Halo 3 and Halo 2 Vista to stay away from. I can understand some of the achievements being for beating the campaign on different difficulty levels, but some games nowadays are leaning to much toward online achievements that are VERY hard to achieve. For example, the PDZ and Quake 4 achievements take forever to get, as my friend has been playing Quake 4 for about 6 months now and still hasn't gotten half of the achievements or gamerscore. Also, another 360 game-- G.R.A.W. -- requires that you become rank #1 in all the leaderboards for an achievement. Now, come on, that is just ridiculous. This means playing for a very long time and beating so many people so many times, and become too good at the game that it is just unnecessary. These are the kind of achievements that I hope Halo 2 Vista and Halo 3 do not have.

Yes, just about all the new games coming out for Vista and Xbox 360 will share gamerscore compatibility.

Halo 2 will not have leading, do you know why? Because the sniper rifle is about 500+ years more advanced than our own sniper rifles, and in turn would be faster, stronger, and deadlier. Also, there is lead in Halo 2, if you have played Coag or a really big level, you have to lead the shot. Or, if they are in a vehicle, and driving at a certain angle, you must lead then to hit them.

End of that topic, now let's get back on topic.

No, not the end of that topic. It's clear you don't know what we're discussing, and that you've never played Halo PC long enough or not at all if you don't know what we're talking about.

We're not talking about leading our shots while taking in factors of wind, distance, etc., we're talking about leading our shots in order to compensate for latency itself. Halo PC's netcode is so frigged up that it forces you, even with a fast internet connection, to fire your projectiles ahead of the direction they are going.

If you wanted to three shot kill a player and they were running to the right, what one must do is aim the reticule about an inch or so (depending on your ping) to right of the player's head. If you shot him directly it would have no effect whatsoever, you have to aim ahead of him because you and the host server does not synchronize correctly like it should. But otherwise, sniper rounds or pistol bullets reach their destination almost instantaneously.

Yes, but seriously, let's not get off-topic.

I think that we should have achievements for the level of difficulty one achieves the Campaign. Maybe a large achievement for Legendary and smaller achievements for the easier difficulties?

Ok, I must have not played Halo PC long enough, but I just thought it was part of the game, but now that I think about it, that is very reasonable to understand, and now I more a little more about Halo PC. Thanks.

:)

Here's another lesson for you.

Triple Posting is bad. it makes you look dumb.

Two words: EDIT BUTTON!

It's fine, at least you are willing to understand.

As for the Halo 2 Vista achievements thing, to be honest, I do believe it will be likely, and it will add to a Live Anywhere Gamerscore-like system. But I just don't see it happening for some reason.

Sorry, I will try better.

Does anybody think that there should be at least a few achievements for online only?

it's one gamerscore for all so the achievements you get on H2V will count to your 360 gamerscore

Heyyo,

Hmm, I think that guy called ThE_MarD posted the answer to his question... which everyone seemed to have missed posting afterwards....

Heyyo,

Last I remembered hearing... there won't be any kindof stats for the H2V servers. They said they might make it so dedicated server operators can get stats dumped into a file so they can post them online for that server (IE. Counter-Strike with stats plugins such as StatsMe)... I'm sure it's in one of the news columbs that Bungie made.....

ah here it is... the Halo2Vista FAQ news release...

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=halo2vistafaqup date

Will Halo 2 for Windows Vista boast the same detailed ranking and stat tracking systems as Halo 2 online via Xbox Live?

No, H2V won’t feature the same global ranking system currently supported by the Xbox version. We are opening up the online experience to better fit the PC platform and provide more flexibility for players. While there is no global stat mechanism, we are investigating the ability for dedicated server hosts to gather and display their own stats for their own servers.

but one thing I find interesting is a couple questions up...

What’s the deal with Live?

Live is a feature of Windows Vista that brings many Xbox Live features to Windows. For example, a Halo 2 for Windows Vista player who signs into Live will be able to find and join H2V matches worldwide, earn Achievements, create lists of Friends, invite others to games, and send personal messages.

.... why must Bungie toy with my mind? =P

So.... here's the link again:
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=halo2vistafaqup date

read away people.

HAHAHAHA! NICE! I wrote up a netcode guide before that's 16731 chars long, and it's still up!!!

Link: http://mypage.uniserve.ca/~mardnet/HPCNetcode1.htm

tui obi wan and threshold? I highly suggest you read my guide I made before you comment on the "lead" shooting from halo. If you've played the xbox version of Halo, yes, the pistol you do need to lead, but ~1mm, not depending on what the server records where you shot from and if the enemy was there at the time....

ya know what? to immortalize my netcode guide (cause I dunno how long that n00b site I made in 20 mins will stay on that server...) I'm gonna make a thread of it in here. ;)
