Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

It's good, but you could put something together yourself that is faster and cheaper.

Yeah, it's pretty good. However, you could (as stated before) build an equivalent/better rig for less $$$.

It's a damn good computer, and you probably wouldn't save more than 150 bones if you built it yourself.

$150 is still a nice sum of money that could be put to good use. Plus, like other's have stated, you could also build a better one while saving money.

Comes out to $1337; add the cost of shipping, a case, motherboard, power supply, keyboard/mouse. You won't save too much, and except for the 7900gs, systems don't get that much better than this.

I would go with 800mhz ram, and a PCI-E card, I highly recommend the 7900gto, also the burner will probably be about $30 and the ram probably a bit more expensive.

These people who say you can save money likely haven't built a rig in the last year or so. It used to be so, but nowadays warehouses get their stock far cheaper than normal in bulk, so the price is pretty even. Of course, that doesn't account for shipping, which still keeps building cheaper, but not by far.

And yes, it is a good computer. Very balanced.

Nah I would disagree with that heavily, since I built a pc yesterday, and about a month ago also.

Those RAM prices look like an ok deal..

I like your setup, very balanced, but as said before, if possible, build your own for less money. Plus, go for a 8800 GTX if you can.

It's good. But it will become obsolete once the next generation of DX10 cards come out, so one might want to upgrade to a DX10 GPU next year.

Yeah but he won't need an 8800 until at least April when Crysis comes out, if he plans on buying it. By then, there will be competition from ATi; meaning lower prices and better product.

Heyyo,

Heyyo,

Hehe, if that were so, then an Nvidia 8800 GTS (GS of the 8800 series) would be AGP. =P

True, but then he'd have to find someone to buy his 7900GS, or a shop that will give him a decent trade in value... might be a bit hard, but still, I'd wait for some ATI solutions to come out, cause yes, I've seen a 8800GTS, and it's almost 2x more powerful than a 7900GT, but I'd be curious to see if ATI makes another behemoth of a deal card like the 9800 Pro's were.

If you dont save money when you build your own rig, then you aren't looking at the right places for parts. The big difference between a rig I would build and an OEM machine is that it would actually have good driver support, be tailored to my tastes, not be loaded up with crap software, and not have a crap BIOS that drags down preformance.

However, people who aren't into building their own rigs typically wouldn't notice a yield difference from the hardware's potential. For you, I'd have to say yeah, you'd enjoy spending your 1500 dollars on it. Would I? No.

You have a good point zeph.

I always go newegg, as it's extremely reliable, and the prices are good. I always build as well, as it's nice being able to open your computer and know exactly where everything is and how to change it.

However, my friend's dad knows someone at a hardware warehouse type place and gets stuff at like 60% normal price. Now that's where you build.
