Ok, about the controller. The GameCubes controller has the tightest and most sensetive analogs I've ever touched. The button lay out is also far superior to the Xboxs, as the angled diamond shape doesn't really work. For me I have no problem, but just for someone who isn't experienced then it's fairly hard to come to grips with. The PS2 controller has unsensetive analogs, the shoulder button hurt your fingers and the actual buttons themselves are needlessly analog sensetive. So when compared, and considering that control is the biggest factor in gameplay, the GameCube wins.
As for specs, they are irrelevant. Games are what matter. Things like Streets of Rage on the MegaDrive still play brilliantly even though the spec at that time was only 16 Bit, not even a quater of todays standards.
Games that you should play on the GameCube... Zelda - The Wind Waker (plus the remakes of the N64 titles), Metroid Prime, Mario Kart DD, Pikmin, Eternal Darkness, Mario Sunshine, Wario Ware... the list goes on. The Xbox has Halo and Ninja Gaiden. Nothing much else is designed all that well to any merit. The PS2 has a plethera of RPG's like FFX and Disgea, plus cool little games like ICO.
However, as Kroenen stated in at the top of page two of this topic, consoles should not be flamed. We aren't talking technical reasons here, just games. Any one of the three consoles can have outstanding games on them, I'm just saying that design wise the GameCube has better titles, and therefore in that respect is more worth having then an Xbox or PS2. I do have all three consoles, so I'm not assuming here.
This is all fact by the way, but you are allowed your own opinion. I'm not saying you're wrong if you don't agree as I'm sure games what like playing are good for what they intend to do, i.e GTA is supposed to shock and have a cool culture, and Resident Evil is supposed to scare you, but gameplay wise are bad.
The appeal of a game to anyone person is also factored by what has influenced them in the life, and for me design has also been something that I have admired. Culture wise, you (that's any oen person, not picking out anyone here) have most likely been brought up differently and different things appeal to you, which is fair enough. Games that can't really appeal for it's sheer design usually go for the lowest common denominator - violence, swearing (that's English for Cussing) or street cred.
Design is the key to a good game, and that's the qualities of Nintendo - good design, and that's all you can really ask from a game.
