This is to the post Mat Mat put up about GC being the best console.
I'd like to say that you have a pretty solid argument about the gamecube. However, The argument/problem has never been about Nintendo's quality of product, Nintendo's problem has always been and will be for a while their lack of any 3rd party support. All of Nintendo's hits have been from them, and the problem with that is that they don't produce enough games (in a decent amount of time)to keep most gamers happy, the wait for the big N's next title is always beyond the horizon. We all love Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda(a lot of people were unhappy with the last one), Mario Tennis, Pikmin(some of you anyway), Super Mario Sunshine (what a great game), and the new Resident Evil coming out, (I'm not including any pokemon titles). I know I've missed one or two of their big titles but that pretty much sums up any reason to own the gamecube. They have no online support for the new online community of gamers rising and the third party support they do have hasn't produced much to get excited about (and why should people when they can get it on xbox or sony). Also the games that Nintendo does produce that are great are just that, great games they have no story really (with the exception of Zelda and Eternal Darkness <<----one great game I forgot, probably one of the best storylines I've ever played through that is right up there with FF3 & 7). You can pretty much sum up every reason to own a gamecube with 4-5 games, if that. That's being generous. One reason I did away with mine is that I hardly ever played it because nothing of interest was ever released and anything that was released by Nintendo was, again I say, too few and far between.
To conclude Mat, what I think you really mean is that nintendo is the number 1 developer of fun/platform games. That, you could make a strong argument for. But I'm sorry to say that the facts are against you as far as it being the best console to own. We already know from many magazine articles that XBOX over powers the PS2 and gamecube in specs and in ease of programming. But that's another discussion for another day.
