Hello,

Recently I had to upgrade my system from an old Athlon 2400 to an Athlon 64 3500, with a matching mother board of course.
I also replaced my old GF 4200ti with a GF 7600gs.

Ok, now there's the problem, I started playing Halo PC/CE and started spotting these frame jitters when I approach an object fast.
After investigating into the matter I found out that this monitoring/over-clocking software was running ("Gigabyte EasyTune 5"), and after shutting it down the jitters went away.

Thinking it was all good, I started playing again just to find out that as the frame rate drops and raises (Vsysn/No vsync), I get some other visual jitters.

Now, my old card could only pull like 30-60 fps, and with this new one I can pull 60-120.

Is this "lag" like phenomenon widely known, or do I have to go on and brake stuff?

Also, I'm notoriously known to neat-pick at everything I buy till I'm satisfied that it works the same for everyone...

I'll appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance,

Avi.

If your processor is dual core, try turning off one core. It's an extremely rare problem, and only I and another person who was on these forums have the issue, that I know of.

Hey Pet0sh, thanks for answering.

Unfortunately, It's a single core.

What is the refresh rate of your monitor? Go into Halo video settings, Set vsynch on and set the refresh to your monitors refresh rate. That will prevent "tearing" that occurs when your monitor can't match the frame rate of your video card.

I already have it set to Vsync, and my refresh rate is 85Hz.

I'll try to capture a video of what I think is wrong when I get back from work.

You might want to lower your refresh rate, usualy a higher refresh rate is better. But there are some cases that it over works you computer and actualy lags it up.

I'm beginning to think that I'm making to much of this...

I ran Halo with Fraps and I can see that the frame rates remains at 85fps most of the time, but might lower for a second if something "new" happens.

I tested the performance playing alone as host on bloodgulch and it seemed to be better than I thought.

Although, after joining a few games with low pings (60-130ms), I got some warping and small spacial displaces while moving.

Though, I don't remember those being so evident on low ping servers...

When you host a lan game by yourself, there should be no jumping at all. If there is, it's not network lag but your system's hardware lagging.
