Well, I agree and not. A post count may encourage some to post meaningless drivle. But if that is the case it would also get them to a bannable/blacklistable point quicker (weeding would go faster).
A postive is also to encourage posting and activity. Not that this is a big problem here but eh.
Also, I think that it would be clear to all an intelligent 1000 post poster from a idiotic 1000 post poster.
I also think it would be nice to see those people, such as yourself zag, that have contributed a bit to the site.
I enjoy that compliment, but I'm not really worried about having a custom title. I was just talking to someone who suggested we get Achronos or other members of the online team to hold weekly or monthly "Member of The Week/Month" awards, possibly awarding custom avatars, but even then, it's not really a big deal to me. (For the record, this person is a semi-prominent member of the Wizards of The Coast boards, where they hold things like that quite often. Heck, the admins even changed some of the long-time members avatars to My Little Pony on April Fools, and some of them even kept them as such.. Weirdos. But overall, they do have fun on those boards, not to say we never do.)
Bungie has roughly 60x6 avatars. That should leave people unique enough. I mean, look through this thread, everyone has a different avatar. And if you truly want to be unique (and have XBL), you can use your emblem.
Of course, you suggest banning/blacklisting people who post just to get count up, but it's easily disguisable. The most pointless thread. And people that hang out in the flood often can get their post count up by just posting in each thread, saying something like "This is funny." or "Lol". Of course, I don't imagine it'd be too tough to weed out the good and the bad...
Honestly? If some member of the web team really think any such actions are a good idea, then they can go ahead, but I think I can live without them.
