Man, Marines blow, I was just playing the level Halo on Legendary when I got to the first Lifeboat, all the Marines were dead after the first dropship attack. No wonder humanity is doomed

the marine a.i. in halo sucks (resulting in a quick death).
they will have a much better a.i. in halo 2

In legendary they are supposed to suck to make it harder for you, and on easy they are awesome.

You actually need to play as a team with marines. I personally find them to be a great help.

Err, if you're getting fragged by your marines it's probably time to re-think your strategy.

As far as all your Marines being dead - It's your job to lead them and keep them alive. Of course they're going to die, they're at the disadvantage. All your Marines dying is simply a reflection of the way you play the game. =\

i like the marines i always try to save them. every once in a while they throw a grenade and it kills like 2 or 3 jackals.

The marines are good to have around, especially in tanks with snipers. you just have to listen for them. they holler before they toss grenades. if you get fragged, remember, you're supposed to be a ways in front anyways. they, after all, are only human.in halo, you aren't. or shouldn't be.

I like the marines, they really do help from time to time, and for instance when your in the scorpion they tell you when you've hit something before the smoke clears which can be handy sometimes, it's all in the little things ppl.

The intelligence of the Marines is inversely proportional to the level of difficulty.

I love my marines => On the level Halo, if you evacuate the marines from the areas instead of waiting for the drop ship, you can keep them. I've gathered up to I think it was 14 marines in that level and 3 hogs, I usually use them as frag grenade fodder to catapult myself to places, but maybe I should try setting up a huge battle......hmmm

I do love the Marines, and I always try to keep them alive. But these three died... real quickly there was literally nothing I could do to keep them alive, Id only jus got there!

I like the marines, though soemtimes useless in Battle they are a good help. They provide covering fire, support and are decent shots with the grenades. Plus when they die, more ammo for you.

Plus their just plain funny.

Wanna know who's more lamer and more of a dumbass than the marines?

Captain Keyes!!!

Man, that guy pisses me off in the T&R when he uses the needler. One thing that I've noticed is that in like every battle, you always get shot in the back (if you are heading the group of marines) by his needler. And another stupid thing he once did was commit suicide. This one time, he loaded like the whole frikkin clip into a dead grunt on the floor, and guess what he did next? He ran right up to it!!!

I like the marines., They can be a help, but I notice that they are usually more dangerous to themselves then the covenant are to them. They always throw a nade like 2 feet from himself, then me, trying to protect them , get fragged!

Marines are HILARIOUS! I don't know how you can't love them! All that accidental grenading adds to the effect of spontaneous gameplay. If you run in and get fragged, then you've probably ran into the danger rather than having a grenade thrown at you. So its your fault. They can throw grenades well, so why not use that good aspect to your advantage.

They are great as snipers either on ground, in a Warthog or on a Scorpion. They do actually provide some cover to close range targets when you're driving the tank.

They have great dialog (I personally can't wait to hear some more great lines from the Marines).

When they die, that's more ammo for you.

I have 2 bad points though. They are:
* They are trigger happy. If you want to sneak up on an enemy and you've got some Marines behind you, you have no chance!
* They spend too long firing at dead corpses and saying "I saved a little extra for you!" than fighting and trying to stay alive. This is especially the case in T&R.

I like the marines to, but there are a few things I don't like, for example:

1. Like SPARTAN_3920 said they are trigger happy, sometimes thart is good, but sometimes you wish you could tell them to stop firing.

2. When they get in ghosts and drive those around, they have run me over countless times. Also when you need a ghost or you are about to get a ghost, either all the marines have taken all of them, or a marine justed nabbed the last one.

Otherwise they'r great to have around and can be useful and haelpful.

I like the marines. they have personality and can sometimes be a help, well, on the easier difficulties. they're crap compared to you simply because your a super human spartan and are a billion times better in every conceivable way. i think that because of this it shows the distiction well. i hope in halo 2 the improved A.I doesn't make them TOO good. i want to be better than any marine and be a spartan

Im sure they wont overdoo the marines AI too much, but i hope they can take out a jackal now, once one jackal killed 2 marines before i took it out, cos my marines didnt know how to get around the shield!
Marines personalities do rock however!

Well, I love the marines, there funny as hell, but they DO suck on legendary, but on AotCR I try and get 2 marines into the ghosts, if I'm playing co-op ill get a friend to drive the warthog with a gunner and a passanger, and then i'll get the tank and get the rest of them on that.
like they say "leave no man behind"
but I love there commentaries, they are so funny, especially if you run stuff over

Marines are pretty lame at times, but they are a great help when you need it also. I especially agree with whoever said they work great on a Scorpion because they ended up killing the covenant people before i even saw them at times.....

Also they are going to have sweet new lines in it, heres a sample:

Posted by: Bungie Weekly Update
STATEN THE TIME SWEEPER

Joseph Staten, our very own director of cinematics has been a busy, busy bee!

"The last few weeks have been all about combat dialog. I have some favorite lines, but I don’t want to give anything away. OK, maybe just one…

(One of the marines’ responses to being stared at by the player for a long time)
“Most people don't like having a gun pointed in their face. Me? I love it.”

Our cast is pretty locked-down. They’ll be some returning favorites, as well as a whole bunch of new very exciting, very talented folks (most of whom are big ‘ol Halo fans – an unexpected benefit!).

So the new lines look to be amazing...
