Windows Vista ships today, but wait before you get all excited. The actual public release date is Jan. 30, but Microsoft released it's buisness version today to select corporate customers.

What I want to know is this - Do you think that Bungie will be getting Vista today? If they do, it means that Bungie will have ~2 months to test out H2V on an actual copy of Win. Vista, not just on RC2. Then Bungie can release H2V on Jan. 30, along with the public version of Vista.

However, If Bungie's development team waits until Jan. 30 to get a copy of Vista, it'll be a few weeks after that at least before the game is released. Bungie's got to test H2V out on Vista, and make sure there are no bugs between the the two. If this happens, I'd guess a release date of between Feb. 10 and 20.

Seeing as H2V is being worked on by Hired Gun -- a team from Microsoft -- they have been working the latest copy of Vista for a while.

Well, so far it's been so by operating system. No vista videocard drivers support OpenGL (like WinXP when it was first coming out), and people are saying "vista is crap" but will probably switch over anyways and later will say "vista's awesome and winxp sucks" just like winxp vs win98se... so history will repeat itself there. I'm sure Halo1PC will not repeat into Halo2Vista, cause by the looks of it, it will be better... I just hope the autoaim ain't as bad as I've seen in many halo2xbox vids, where their aim can be off, but the bullets fly at the enemy anyways....

Old news, but good to know nonetheless.

Maw

My video card supports Vista, so I am happy. I don't have a business, so unless I am randomly selected as another tester, and seeing as it is already...

Vista has been RTM for more than a month now. For people who dont understand what release to manufacturer means, it translates to it's allready 'final'. The time between now and Jan 30 is simply time for them to press more and more copies.

And for them to get in some last minute advertising.
