Understandable, but they wont actually have any power.
It would be a problem at first, but it would eventually get tired.

There used to be one, but it got taken out due to elitism.

* How many total posts/topics on each forum

Unnecessary.

Posted by: prophate
* Users online section

It's been discussed to death. I'd like to see it.

Posted by: prophate
* Most users online at one time

Also unnecessary.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Problems
* If someone needs to know how many posts they have made, then they need some psychiatric help, or they're going to gloat. Vote: No.

* We don't need to know the exact number of posts in a forum for any reason. Unless it's to make a contest to see which forum has/can make the most posts. Vote: No.

* Not necessary. However, if we do get it, so long as there is a "switch" to turn it on and off, I'd be okay with it. Vote: No, but if Achronos will put in the work, then it's fine by me.

* Definitely not. Knowing when members are on most often will not actually affect anyone's posting habit, unless for some insane reason people refuse to post unless there are a certain number of other people on at the same time. Vote: No[/quote]

I donno, maybe I'm just too used to Invision forum style.
It just seems wrong, IMO, not to have it.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Example 1- Would make spam.
Example 2- Would make spam.
Example 3- Sounds cool, but i dont know what real good purpose it would serve.
Example 4- I think that already exists, but Acrhonos is the only one who can see it.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

How many posts a person has.
I'm sure you know all about this by now. It didn't work before, it wouldn't work now.
How many total posts/topics on each forum
We kind of already have this, its just page numbers and its not very detailed. I am curious though. I'd like to know the exact details. Although, most board software counts deleted posts and topics. We would never know the exact number.
Users online section
I don't see any problems with this, except for the occasional stalkers.
Most users online at one time
Most admin level security users can see this stat, but we usually cannot. I don't know why, but I think that it would be interesting to see. I'd like this feature, maybe in place of the navbar or something.

That would be nice to have under the name. I can't see a real reason why not (Unless, of course, being on makes you elitist).

* Most users online at one time
Here it'd probably be just a huge number. Ever go into the Flood? Yeah, there's a lot of people on at any time.

And I think the very short lived site statistics page may have had that (or maybe it was how many groups there are). But of course corn had to go and breakeded it.

Anyone agree?

Seriously man, lay off the booze. It may make a dull night exciting and ugly girls pretty, but.....uh.......

I agree with number two, but Bungie has their own buisness to work, let them do it.

"Pfft, you guys try to bring elitism into everything!" Wah. Cry. Emo.

I agree. At least 1, 2, and 4 are pointless. The third? That is almost just as pointless, but could be nice to have still.

  • 11.30.2006 10:01 PM PDT

I don't know about you, but I have a feeling if there was a "total posts" count, some people would try to make that number a huge one. It's cool though...

If anything, we need (well, not need but it would be cool imo) something under our Last Post Dates that isn't elitist in the least bit, and we can all enjoy.

I was thinking something like our profile headlines. You have the option to toggle it between hidden and viewable, and it just has your profile message under your Join Date.

It's not needed at all, but it would be a pretty cool little addition. And it would take up that unused space (though I've grown used to that space by now.)

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

Why not just put it in your signature, Iceman..?

I'd like to see a users online feature, maybe just a little Seventh Column logo beneath the post date (which, come to think of it, I really don't see the point of... I don't remember looking at it).

Having said that, would a "user online" think make the last post bit rather redundant..?

Dunno. Usually Sigs are used for advertisements (links, quotes, etc.)

But profile headings are always unique. Sometimes I click a user's profile just to see what they have there :-)

Nothing useful, really. Just something to think about.

I'd like to see a users online feature,

The problem with that is that spammers would know when Moderators aren't on. But if it can be hidden for them, then sure. It would actually be beneficial because if you message someone and expect a quick reply, you'll know that you aren't being ignored or anything.

Custom colors for that logo, maybe?

Hmmm......scratch that. Anything can be elitism (darn elitism.) Make it white, and not too bright, and that would be cool :-)

Actually there is already a system in place for knowing which Moderators are on or not. It keeps track of their last post and gives you that time. It lets you know pretty well who is on.

I'm aware of kd5shw's modwatch. But your average spammer isn't going to come to the Septagon of all places and notice it in the stickies.

But if a mod posts, and a spammer sees he's currently offline, he can spam a lot more effectively, especially if it's during the hours when not a lot of moderators are present.
