"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

Holy crap. That trailer was bloody insane. Them graphics were incredible. And the shield was very nice. The Chief's armour seems severly faded though. And talk about eye candy; I loved how weapons can now be slinged on the Chief's back and legs.

Was that a Mongoose that was turned over, or a Warthog?

I believe that the girl is another spartan. I can't remember her name, but the one that was the sniper in the cheif's squad.
if my memory serves me right i belive it was kelly

Hm, good speculation. Is that a girl in the grass? We gotta assume that one of 'em is John, probably before or while he was six years old.

What's that group of Covenant the Chief jumps into? Those look like Brutes.

Oh, and the sniper in John's squad was Linda - 058. :)

have we decided on the significance of the children in the ad yet?

unfortunately there is no significance. Bungie has left it up to us to figure out their identity.

Before you comment on this please read this link where Frankie was interviewed: http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=765343

I believe mostly everything said here is true; but, I also believe that when the marines say,"I think we lost him" and the Master Cheif responds,"Not yet," this means he will probably die sometime soon. Thus, it means that when he's charging the group of covenent, he is on a suicide attempt in a last chance to perform what ever the mission was. This also likely means that this video is in fact the cutscene at the end of Halo 3, and the Master Cheif dies. Also usually you know when someone is about to die, they have flashbacks of someone that they loved or liked or something like that possible could of died or something like that (I don't know I never read the books). I think Master Cheif knew there was nothing else he could do and that flashback gave him some sort of motivation, so he decided to charge those brutes. I know it's hard to believe, but I think his journey is over.

Also, think about how Bungie mentioned, "Finish the Fight."

Dude are you insane, if they kill of Master Chief, Bungie will loose every Halo fan they ever had. I think that this scene is before the E3 trailer, therefore, MC has not died because he appears when the ARK is opening up.

those are wraith shots in the backround. he comes back to reality and sees a fatty wraith blast heading his way, so he busts out that grenade. as you should know from halo2 even the MJORLIN armor isnt strong anough to protect wraith blasts. thus the grenade

speaking of wraiths, aren't wraiths covenant vehicles? why are there a bunch of brutes with wraiths down there? hmmm

also.. when he is running and he pulls the AR off his back, he shoots up in the sky, but it cuts really fast so you almost dont notice. wonder why he would be shooting in the sky?

there are plenty of things said before he goes into combat, that little girls voice says "time to go" i think thats him still dazed from the blast and its his way of getting himself back into battle mode, then cortana says chief, leave me... ive come to the conclusion that bungie threw that in there just to make us all wonder why she would be saying that. im not gonna worry about it. i cannot understand what the seargent is saying when he says something like "seventy-seven" and something like "confirm the vector"

after alot of thinking last night, ive decided that im pretty dissapointed overall.. i think that halo2 became huge bacause of the multiplayer, and if i werent interested in halo then this ad wouldnt have been very special to me at all. i was looking foward to seeing maybe a few spartans fighting eachother.. like in multiplayer. this ad seemed more like a teaser for halo CAMPAIGN fans, rather than a tv comercial for a video game. if i were not interested in halo, this commercial would have been just another car comercial and would not have sparked any interest.. or made me want to buy the game. LOL that world of warcraft comercial was honestly alot better with that big thing swinging the hammer around, or the God of War commercial when he cuts off the birds wing... that's stuff we wanna see, not a bunch of frickin clues and mysteries and not even real gameplay.. i will probably be dissapointed once i DO play halo 3 because my expecations are up so high now from those awesome CG graphics.

thats exactly what i thought, i cant seem to spot any elites in the group so MAYBE just MAYBE the elites might have sided like i thought they might at this point we know atleast the arbiter will stay on th humans side and he does have a pretty good reputation with alot of high ranking elites....

on the oother hand halo wouldnt be halo without grunts, elites, and hunters against you(and obviously theres gonna be brutes again), so I'd imagine that the

When EGM played Halo 3, Bungie claimed they never even had to use their X buttons... Maybe the X button is the shield generator thingy...

Also, why does the child's voice echo in the Chiefs head? My theory is that the 2 kids, their the Chief and a friend when they were training to be SPARTAN's.

We already discussed this....please read now

I ran the video 10+ times in Video Mach, and he is jumping in front of 12+ brutes, along with 1 in the middle who has a hammer like Tartarus did, and he appears to have a Red FLAG, (Squad Leader) and AT LEAST 7 Wraiths.

The Voice Com in his HUD is saying to a Marine,
"Any sign of the Chief?" "No sir, I think we've lost him."
The Master Chief responds....maybe to himself or over the voice com "Not yet..." Then it appears he makes a suicide attempt to stop the Covenant. As we all know, the master chief would never do this by himself, and barely with MARINES behind him, and especially when its in flat open land, with no cover

Another thing you cannot ignore is this, THIS IS HUGE, when he first stands up, you see a HUGE cloud in the background, and in the middle....is an opening, if you compare that same cloud, to the trailer, its the SAME EXACT cloud!!
Meaning, that whatever is going on, hes still in a desert, and that could is Directly ABOVE the ARC, and its spinning. The Master Chief is staring up at the sky, which, and right after that you see a blue shot going up and out of that cloud...which as we all know means that something has been activated. Either its the arc, and he knows its over, or its just a wraith shot going insanely high, your choice.

Respond and tell me what you think so far haha

Not at the sky, the Brutes. From his vantage point he can most likely see them, or at least the top of ones head. We cant see the Brutes because of the angle.

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

I definatly think those two kids at the beginning are John and Kelly. They are about the age of 6 (how old they were when they met). And are are both in uniform, well, the underclothes or PJs or something lol (both wearing the same thing, you get what I mean). And its obviously a flash back when he wakes up to put his helmet on.

I hope Kelly comes back in the game or something, I read the books and loved the John, Kelly, and Sam team. The first book was awesome.

lol thats funny since there arent any brutes or enemies untill he jumps off the cliff, unless he is shooting at invisble brutes, i think youre wrong

He says "Not Yet" because he knows some day he will die, just not today. Its somewhere in the Halo novels that he knows hes not invincible, and he partially fears his death, because he is pretty much humanity's last hope in the war.

Well, thats a guess. And when he fires, hes aiming ahead not up. It looked like that to me the first time I saw it, so maybe it lagged for you. It lagged like hell at school and seemed like he was shooting up.

Yeah, the ad takes place before the trailer right? Because when he jumps off the cliff, the background looks really familiar lol.

Sorry if I am going over stuff already talked about, I just don't feel like reading all those pages lol.

ive watched the video soooooo many times and im sure that hes not shooting straight ahead, lets get a few other ppl's opinions on this. i just watched it again and he pulls the AR off his back and it is aimed up just a little, and then there is a bunch of smoke so you dont see exactly what the gun looks like when it is being fired, or where he is firing at, but you can definetly HEAR it... i think thats the whole purpose for this shot.. is so ppl will know what the new gun SOUNDS like.. and what good is a FPS commercial without the gun being fired?

Those are definitely at the beginning. When it first shows the helmet, its in the tall grass, at night, just like the kids. Their merely out of the amour. If you read the first book, it says that they were fitted with the first version at an extremely early age ( I think 10)

Well, in Halo 3's case the trailer isn't much different from the commercial. Both TV appropriate, so either could be used as a commercial. Now the Halo 3 trailer was amazing, and not a single gun fired (unless you count the thing suspected to be the ark activating, looks like it fires some sort of beam)

haha i just noticed that when he puts his helmet back on and the camera is swirling around and you see the AR, there is a Warthog in the backround, and then after he activates that shield thing. the wraith blast blows up the mongoose...

by the way, that mongoose looks SOOO tight

watch for it

Yeah, but the scenery looks the same in both.

I had a heart attack last night when I saw the commercial though.

I have to say, its better on tv ;)
