Subject: Will Halo 2 Vista be so easy?

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

Wow. I am almost laughing.

I played Halo for about 20 minutes and had lots of fun. Got a few great snipe shots, 3sk's, and loads of satisfaction.

I go play Halo 2 and I play three FFA games. Win all three of them easily. I felt like a complete noob just from playing Halo 2. There was an FFA snipers match that I won. It was amazing how easy it was to snipe. I have always known Halo 2 was dumbed down to appease the dreaded noob kings, but it really hit me just how much after I had played HPC for 10 minutes before.

I see a guy running out in the open. I swipe my recticle about three inches and passed over his head. BOOM HEADSHOT! I see another guy. Fire. Miss by quite a bit. HEADSHOT! A guy sneaks up behind me. I randomly turn, scope, and fire. BOOM HEADSHOT! So fricking easy it's not even funny. That's Halo 2 my friends.

My question is this:
Is it going to be fun playing Halo 2 on the PC? I'm pretty sure they won't tone down the hitboxes and I hope there isn't auto-aim. But if they keep it the way it is on X-box, it will be incredibly easy and no fun.

Bungie designed Halo 2 for the "casual gamer".
Unfortunately, their idea of a casual gamer was a 3/4 blind monkey who can't snipe without hitboxes that are the perfect size for an overwieght whale and self-aiming, heat seeking, ammo spraying, bullet hoses.

Maw

I'm pretty sure they will squeeze the life out of Easiness itself, however they probably don't care.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

It'll probably be the same thing, except for the uber-leet better graphics and maybe a GameSpy Arcade instead of a Live service that we have to pay for, but as me15ter once said, "Everything is a guess until the final product", wait... did it went that way?

hehe, they already announced autoaim for H2V to be "different depending on the device" so mouse will have no autoaim, while joystick will have some... hopefully, at most, it would be like the joystick autoaim style of HL1 engine where it wasn't too too bad...

Also, Halo2Vista will be using live. I myself hope it's not pay to play, or else I'm not sure if I will do it or not.....

People are going to be seriously pissed if they have auto-aim in a God damned PC shooter.

I know exactly how you feel, RB. It's ridiculous when I shoot at somebody's God damned shoulder and it counts as a freaking headshot.

Err... well, they don't "suck" cause they did create the gaming phenomenon that is "Halo" and "Marathon" afterall. And you guys, autoaim's been in PC shooters since the get-go. If you guys were around for when Doom and such started up? they had autoaim, mainly autoaim for above and below the aiming reticle cause it was too hard to do it just via keyboard all the time, but it was there. Half Life 1 engine for PC had auto aim as well, but gamepad/joystick only, and it wasn't overdone. Halo1Xbox, I say, has really good autoaim, but maybe a bit too much strong cause sometimes it does feel like the game is aiming for you.

I don't see why you guys are getting too overworked by it. The only thing we should worry about is if it's overdone. If the autoaim's like Halo2Xbox? then yes, we are being screwed. If not? then it should prove to be a great game balance so both K&M users can battle gamepad users and it be a fun match.

.... the only other thing I'm worried about is if we'd have to pay-to-play H2V to use Live to play games.... if so screw it, might not bother with the multiplayer side of things....... plenty of other shooters coming out for that too.

They had autoaim in Doom because the game didn't support the mouse. The only controls were the keyboard. But you do have a point that autoaim has been around in PC shooters in some degree or another for a long time. I don't like to call it autoaim or reticule magnetism, since it's not the reticule that's being attracted to the target. It only seems to be the shot you fire. So I'll call it projectile magnetism. Anyways I got a long day of work ahead of me, so I'm going to polish off my coffee and get going.

Yeah, camp pain has auto-aim in it. I didn't like camp pain because the story was just kind of :P you know?

But even if auto-aim is just for the controller, don't they realize it won't take long for somebody to make a hack to allow you to have it on a keyboard? And it gives controller users a huge advantage making aiming so easy for them.

I still cannot see why anyone would want to get H2V and use a controller. (especially if they already have it on Xbox). It's like upgrading from a 2 man canoe to a ski boat but paddling instead of getting an engine.

Bah, the Macs arent that easy, true they are just like every other operating system with folders and windows, but there are some aspects that are so frustrating that you just want to stop using it. Take for example you cant maximize a window to take up the whole screen save the top bar. No, you hit the maximize button and it takes up most of the scren, except for some space on the right. Or how anytime you try to do something at the bottom of the page the damned dock pops up and you need to try to go around it.

If H2V is anything like H2X then you can guaruntee a certain group of people will mod the hell out of it to bring you H2CE, or otherwise known as, "how it should have been."

Yeah I like the idea of a Halo 2 Vista: Custom Edition. I'd be awesome with a motorcycle or something of the type.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Casual = sitting back in an armchair with my Logitech gamepad. Auto-aim? Sure! Just like Xbox Halo. Switch to mouse and no auto-aim. Sounds good to me.

FYI, Doom supports mouse, too. :)

There will be no custom edition because custom content will already be supported with the final product.

In........................................................Out .

I hope I will have to try, I want a challenge, not huge numbers next to my name.

Yeah I know. If it's as nooby as Halo 2... **shudder**

How can they possibly be so ignorant? PC gamers don't want auto-aim and huge HB's. We want challenging, satisfying games.

this is because Bungie used a single hitbox for the whole bi-peds in Halo 2. in Halo, they made a hitbox for every body segment of the bi-ped. the reason for this feeling you have is from shear lazyness on Bungie's part.

They really over did it in Halo 2. The auto aim was bad but the hitboxes were worse. But because of the PC mouce and keyboard they'll HAVE to dumb it down or the game will be far to easy. It was alright for a xbox thumbpad, but for a mouse and keyboard it's just to frekkin easy.

Personaly if autoaim is just for the theumbpad I'm really not pissed. Even with an autoaim a 360 controler is no mach for a good mouseman.
