May I ask why people seem upset with Bungie?

Because it's easier to be angry than to be understanding. Or patient, for that matter.

I'm considering locking this. Shai was never interested in discussion to begin with, and I don't see what good will come from keeping this thread around.

In other words, you expect Bungie to cater to their fans on a silver platter? That's a very selfish implication. Bungie owes nothing to their fans, but they choose to be community centric. First and foremost, they make and sell games, of which you have the free choice to purchace. Secondly, they have Bungie.net, a place for their fans to gather and discuss all things Bungie, and a way for them to give back to their fans. They post news here. Even some of their employees post here (although less here than on HBO and others). They don't need to do any of that.

IMHO, I think you should think about what this beta is for. This beta will help towards the improvement of the final product. If you think they intenionally aren't allowing certain people to play, that's probably wrong. There's probably a good reason for it.

And if you didn't hear it on Bungie.net, it's not official (as far as I know).

I'm done. I feel like I jumped into a pit of vipers...

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I am no authority on this subject, but i do have a question.

Was it bungies choice in anyway on how to go about this?

And another question.

How was the testing for Halo 2 done?

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

So, I'm going to lock this thread. Not because it was a bad thread, but because I think everyone has said their piece, and further discussion is likely to collapse into a flamefest that will serve no purpose.

Just as a final word - please remember that the sign-ups as presented now are merely the first phase of beta entry. There will be many methods to gain entry into the beta, some you will expect, and some that you won't.

Patience is a virtue. I know it is small consolation (if any) without specific details, but that is the situation as it is. I am neither going to apologize for the situation nor attempt to spin the situation in a positive light - you guys are smart enough to form your own opinions without my input. I just ask that you stop assuming that we (as in Bungie) are trying to screw you over. When you do that, it becomes extremely difficult to maintain a positive discussion.
