So, am I alone in this, or was I the only person in here who thought that the flood were comparatively boring enemies? I'm not saying that they were totally without merit, or that the original Halo was lame after the big plot twist. I think it did what it was supposed to and drew me into the story just that much more. But now that Halo is destroyed, and I've played out the whole Flood thing, I'm a little aprehensive of the Flood being in the next game. I mean, it doesn't seem like there's much depth of character potential with those guys. I've played Halo from start to finish three times now, and although the Flood certainly add some chaos, they don't seem to bring much else to the table. They're not particularly tactical in their fighting style, and I don't find killing them quite as rewarding as say killing an elite who keeps ducking behind cover and trying to flank you, and I would expect the AI to only improve with Halo 2. Of course the Flood upped the creepy factor, but nothing's as creepy to me as seeing a glowing energy sword or two "floating" your way. I see the Flood more as cannon fodder than anything else. I'd be just as happy if the Flood didn't show up again and we were just left fighting the Covenant, which are a much more diverse and interesting foe in my opinion. Can anyone confirm that the Flood are returning for Halo 2, and if so, can you maybe help me gain a little perspective on what makes these guys interesting? I mean, their story seems pretty much cut and dry to me. "Kill all life in the universe" is a pretty clear mission statement if you ask me. Would reading the Halo novels add a bit of depth there?

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

No I think the Halo novels don't illuminate the flood much more (I am reading them now), and the Flood have been confirmed I think.

accually no, the flood didn't survive. The ODST (orbital drop shock troops) or marines, commendeered the Truth and Reconsilation to try to fly it out. But one Major thought they shouldnt bring the flood, so they blew up the ship. The flood are dead, dead as zombies trying to eat your brains. As far as i know, they wont be in Halo 2. NO MATTER WHAT. I hoep tehy arnt to, i hope some new enemy, like rebel Covy that are all cool like that fight the covy AND you. THAT would be cool!

Here is my idea of the only reasons the flood could be back. 1. They snuck on a ship heading for earth. OR 2. We visit Halo 04s remains because all of it wasn't blown to bits. At the end of Halo you see huge pieces fall off meaning you could still land on it and explore. But hopefully they are back because I liked the target practice!

It would be cool if the flood came in greater variety and were smarter. It would be awesome if they had their own custom weapons and vehicles. They could have weapons and vehicles cobbled together from both human and covenant technology, like a wraith tank with a rocket launcher and gatling gun strapped to the roof. The flood should also be able to hijack human and covenant vehicles and use them in battle.
