They might have 16 port HUBs. But if you and a lot of friends all have 4 port HUBs, it would take 8 of them to hook 16 boxes together. Good luck with the TVs though.

I found a 16 port HUB. I was surprised at how little it costs. Maybe it is a P.O.S.

I am no expert when it comes to networking. I was wondering what would the best way to connect everything together if it was required. 8 4-port HUBs sounds like it might slow the network down. And I have no idea where to find a good 16-port HUB.

Get a router. A hub is a so called "Stupid" device. It sends data it gets to every link. While a router looks at the data packet and sends it off to the location it was sent.

Netgear makes some nice 16port routers under $100 that can also be rack mounted.

just a suggestion may not work though check with large business that may have out of date hubs. i can get a ton of 12 port hubs for free from the hospital my father works for.

"It's better to be dead and cool, than alive and uncool!"

Someone gave me a 24 port hub. They said they got it from an office building that we being torn down. It is about 5 or 6 years old, but it still works for Halo!!

The best thing to do in this situation would be to either buy a 15-25 port switch or router, or buy a few 4-8 port switches or routers. As it was mentioned above, hubs send all the data to every single port, wasting network bandwidth, whereas switches or routers send data only to the port that it needs to go to, thus using the network's bandwidth more efficiently.

A router hasn't worked for our LAN parties. We've tryed two different types. part of the problem seems to be that only two boxes can be linked: the one in the uplink/Wide Area Network port, and one other. The problem with the router is that it gives a link between only one box and the WAN box at a time. We, ironically, need a "stupid" device to make the LAN work. Tell me if i'm wrong, but we've tryed everything possible, and my friend's brother in law is in computer engineering, and he said that that's what we need, or else one of the newer routers. The newer ones, apparently, double as an ethernet hub.
