"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but I can't accept not trying." - M. Jordan

I was thinking about how in Halo when you first see the ring. It looks as though the land has light being shed on it (Like it was day time on Halo). The planet next to it isn't a star, and it certainly isn't reflecting any light from a near by star.

So where is the light coming from?

There was no sun in Halo. I hope this can be explained in a way other than, "It's just a game dude".

You know i just remembered that mabye the subsystems of halo created light from energy particles gathered from the nearby planet seeing as every halo is near a planet, i guess the other source could be the lil electronic lights you see in every lvl.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

Just look in the sky at any time on any Halo game when playing on a Halo ring, there is a star, just like earth.

There has to be a sun for there to be light. The moon doesn't give off light, the sun shining on it makes it glow.

So for a near by planet to give off light it would have to be close to a star, which would be its sun.

None of that was evident in Halo. When you look in the sky, there is a sun, when the ring gets destroyed, you don't see a sun.

Halo mistake??

Ive seen it too but i think it doesnt rely do much. you see halo 1 has 2 lanets or stars you see when u look from the MP map Blood Gulch a Moon and a Planet. Fom what i think its the particles on the Subspace station on the backside of the ring gathering energy to create an artificial sunlight stream....

All of your questions will be answered.

Cool vid.

Does the ring orbit anything? Like if there was a sun and that planet was the only to orbit it then it would almost always be day time. If the ring orbited the star with that planet somewhere else it would still almost always be day,

It is night on a few levels, but I suppose it is just a game.

Well, considering the fact that there is life on Halo, there must be a star or some sort of light/heat source nearby.

Day and night, along with the gravity on the ring, is caused by it's rotation. the "sun" is probably at an angle to Halo (you can see it...otherwise you wouldn't have that cool lighting effect when you LOOK at it) so while one side is in complete shade, the other is in light.
