Halo: Unggoy Evolved
Part II
Chapter 1: Popcorn! Get Your Popcorn Here!
The Supreme Commander of the Fleet of Particular Justice stood before the three, noble Prophets, and the crowd surrounding him was completely silent (aside from a few short coughs in the back rows).
"There was only one ship.", the Sangheili said softly.
"One? Are you sure?", the Prophet of Truth asked from the middle of the group.
"Yes. They called it....the Pillar of Autumn."
"Why was it not destroyed," barked the Prophet of Mercy, who sat just left of Truth, "with the rest of their fleet?"
"It fled," answered the Commander "as we set fire to their planet.
"But I followed with all the ships in my command."
To the right of Truth sat the Prophet of Regret, who appeared in a beaconing, holographic form.
"When you first saw Halo, were you blinded by its majesty?", asked the Prophet.
"Blinded?"
"Paralyzed? Dumbstruck?"
"No.", replied the golden-clad Elite, who was begining to feel irritated.
"Yet the humans were able to evade your ships," Regret said "land on the Sacred Ring, and desecrate it with their filthy footsteps?"
"Noble Heirarchs....surely you understand that once the parasite attacked...."
Not two seconds later, nearly the entire council chamber burst into the shouting. However, they quickly became quiet once the Prophet of Mercy slammed his left wrist on the arm of his chair.
"There will be order in this council!", the light-haired Prophet exclaimed. Shortly after, Truth began scooting his chair closer to the Elite.
"You were right to focus your attention on the Flood, but this Demon, this 'Master Chief'...."
"By the time I learned the Demon's intent," the Sangheili replied "there was nothing I could do."
Once again, the Council erupted, and in the darkened corner of the chamber, the Jiralhanae known as Tartarus-with his hands across his chest-was chuckling to himself.
To keep the Council members from becoming angry once again, Regret leaned closer toward Truth and whispered "Prophet of Truth, this has gone on long enough. Make an example of this bungler. The Council demands it.".
Truth nodded, raised his right hand towards the Council, and said to the Commander "You are one of our most cherished instruments. Long have you led your fleet with honor and distinction, but your inability to safeguard Halo....was a colossal failure."
A split-second later, a Council Prophet shot upward from his seat, raised his fist, and shouted, "Nay, it was heresy!"
Once more, the chamber was filled with angry shouts until the Commander interupted "I will continue my campaign against the humans."
"No!" Truth exclaimed "You will not."
Suddenly, a pair of vicious Brutes crept from the shadows, grabbed the golden-clad Elite by his hands, and lead him toward the door at the other end of the chamber.
"Soon the Great Journey shall began." the Hierarch told him "But when it does, the weight of your heresy will stay your feet, and you shall be left behind."
Approximately five minutes later, the Commander and the Jiralhanae holding onto him arrived at an enormous chamber, with a fairly large crowd of Unggoy, Kig-Yar, and Lekgolo facing toward the Commander. The Unggoy, specifically, were all cheering "Heretic! Heretic! Heretic!". When the reached the end of the crowd, the Brutes stopped at a dias infront of an enormous dropoff. Below them all were crowds of thousands gathering to watch.
"You've drawn quite a crowd.", said Tartarus, looking straight at the Elite.
"If they came to hear me beg," the Commander replied "they will be disappointed."
"Are you sure?"
Near the front of the crowd behind the golden-clad Sangheili were a group of Unggoy who had just returned from yet another life-changing experience. They were, of course, part of what used to be known as the Grunt Squad of Five. Each of them wore their own suit of black-colored armor.
"Man, this is gonna be good!", said Silco.
"You know it! I've been looking forward to this for months!", replied Pillow.
"Hey, have any of you seen Sarge?", Fisca asked, scanning through the crowd for a look at their crimson-armored leader.
"He said he had something to take care of first.", said Pillow, "Not sure what, though."
"Yeah, well, he'd better hurry up. I think it's about to start!"
The Seraph-class starfighter zoomed toward the UNSC Orbital Defense Platform known as Cairo Station. As it latched itself to the facility, a legion of Unggoy poured out of the aircraft, the last of which was the Grunt Sargeant himself.
"Alright, boys, get that thing open!", he barked, pointing toward the bulkhead door infront of them.
"Grunty brother, the bomb has been armed.", said a Grunt through the Sargeant's COM.
"Nice job, son!", the crimson-armored Unggoy said.
As the Grunts began their work on the bulkhead, the Sargeant faced toward them and said, "Alright, boys, as soon as that door opens, let 'em have it!"
