Chapter 10: Dowski
After finally ridding themselves of the barbaric Master Chief, the five-membered Grunt squad continued their travels around the mysterious ring world. Pillow had reactivated the bridge by using the holo-panel. The Grunts then moved to the right end of the outcropping, down the ramp, and back on the trail (where their Warthogs had been parked).
"Wait, wait, grunty brothers! Take me! Take me!", shouted the (obnoxious) yellow-armored Unggoy. "State yer name, son.", the Grunt sargeant ordered as he started the engine of his Warthog.
"Moshpit, oh mighty veteran!", the Grunt answered, who merely guessed the rank of the Grunt sargeant by the red coding of his armor.
"Do you have any specialized combat skills? My guess would be 'no', due to yer yella armor. O' course back then, yella was today's white. Heh, heh.", the Grunt sargeant said.
"C'mon, sarge! We could use a decoy.", said Silco, who sat in the passenger's seat of the sargeant's Warthog.
"Nah, we've got enough of those already! I'm sure we'll be able to find some use for 'im, though.....Hop in, Moshpit!", the red-armored Grunt ordered. Moshpit nodded, walked forward and sat in the passenger's seat (aka Silco's lap).
"Argh, get off of me!", Silco shouted, as he pushed Moshpit off of the seat and onto the hard, stone floor. The Grunt sargeant slapped his face and said, "The other Warthog, Moshpit."
Moshpit nodded once again, walked behind the sargeant's Warthog, and into the passenger's seat of Hackle's.
The Grunts eventually found a way out of the tunnel. However, it was not until several hours later when they finally found another form of life. The squad soon found themselves lost inside of a mucky grotto, and tied to a tree was a part of the Pillar of Autumn's command crew.
The Grunts hit the breaks on their bulky vehicles, left them, and aproached the female. The only sign of of bear skin that could be seen was her face, which was as pale as snow.
"Now who is this here?", the Grunt sargeant asked, as he aproached the Ensign. "Let me out of here!", the woman cried when suddenly, several blue-armored Elites entered the scene.
The Elites untied the woman, grabbed her by the arms, and took her-as well as the Grunts (though it was more than an invitation for them)- aboard their dropship. The [Pillar of Autumn] crew member spoke to the Covenant troops about the position of the rest of the command crew- the same crew that tied her to a tree (due to her acts of cowardice).
About half of an hour later, the fork-shaped dropship landed ontop of a large, green valley. The crew left the dropship; the Ensign lead them toward the rest of the command crew, who were standing near the face of a nearby outcropping.
"Drop your weapons, now!", the Elite ordered. Feeling exhausted from their travels and unable to fire, the crew dropped their weapons (which consited of Assault Rifles and Pistols). The Grunt sargeant and his crew walked forward and grabbed the weapons. "Here ya go, men. Take these!", the Grunt sargeant said, handing each member of his crew a pistol.
The Elite spoke to the female softly. "Yeah, he's the one.", the Ensign answered, pointing toward captain Jacob Keyes. "Dowski, you little -blam!-! I'll-"
The crew member by the name of Hikowa was interupted when one of the Elites shot her dead. Soon, the entire command crew was dead, with the exceptions of Keyes and the Ensign by the name of Dowski. "Sir, I didn't know! Honest, I didn't. They-"
An Elite quickly crouched, picked up a pistol and aimed it at Dowski's head. The Ensign gulped, turning more pale than she was already. The Elite fired, immediately killing her. Keyes was then knocked out by a couple of the blue-armored beasts, and brought aboard the Covenant dropship. As for the Grunts, they decided to join the Elites, seeing as how they had no other place to go.
