Heyyo,
I think everyone here on the HaloPC forums is fed up with xbox users thinking their xbox is still better than PC's. They became budget technology when the Geforce4 TI line came rolling out. You see, the Xbox has a Geforce 3 innit (maybe TI 500, maybe not, but probalby does), while newer PC's have massive PCI-Express videocards. A WHOLE new slot for cards of all kinds.
The benchmarks I will present are good ol' http://www.tomshardware.com/ vga charts.
VGA Chart I (For those who don't know roman numerals: I = 1... this chart is labeled as Low-system specs charts, which an xbox falls under)
Here's an old benchmark showing a PC (that in many ways already kicks an xbox's ass.
as Skippy TBK points out (I added the 1 touch of extra detail), here's an xbox's specs:
Xbox: 800 MHz, 128 RAM, 64MB (Geforce 3) Directx 8.1 card.
The Test PC for this benchmark is:
AMD AthlonXP 2000+, 256MB PC-266 MHz RAM CL2 (2x128MB), and the video card's ranged from geforce2 MX's and ATI Radeon VE's to Geforce4 TI 4600's and ATI Radeon 8500's.
Here's a 3D Mark 2001 benchmark:
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20020418/vgacharts-0 5.html
NOTE:
Geforce4 TI 4600: 9889
Geforce3 TI 500 score: 7783
As you can see, the geforce4 TI beat the living S*it outta the xbox's equivalent video card. by a whole 2106. In 3D Mark 2001 Grading, that's quite a bit.
Now, I'd show you newer cards using 3D Mark 2001 gradings, but it seems tom's hardware upgraded to 3D Mark 2003 which uses a whole different grading system.
So in conclusion, if a Geforce 4 TI 4600 beat an xbox back then, what chance does an xbox stand against the new ATI Radeon x800's, and the Nvidia 6800's? the answer? none. Even a Geforce FX5600 is stronger than a Geforce 3, but still sucks.
My old comp (same specs just minus that 2nd stick of 512mb RAM) had a FX5600, on 3D Mark 2001SE I scored: 8323 So even that crappy card beat an xbox by a lot of points (can't really compare to tom's hardware benchmark due to different systems).
