It will but not very well. you'll have to turn the graphics down to medium or low levels, and run it in low resolution. Otherwise it just won't run smooth. Sorry to break that to you but it's the truth. Good luck.

yeah it'll be better than an mx440, you got that right :)
PCI cards are slow though... these days AGP cards are most deffinately the standard, and they're not expensive. On the other hand you might not have an AGP slot in your motherboard...

If possible you want a directx 9 card.

Sry to double post but I this was important enough to deserve it's own post. This goes against everything I've said about needing a good PC to run Halo, but anyways:

My sister's PC has the following spec. 800Mhz P3, 256MB SDRAM, 256MB ATi 9200.
Halo will run, it lags a bit when firing a weapon especially if plasma is involved. But it Does run, and it's playable. That's a very lowspec PC, and the 9200 isn't much different from the card you want, the 5200. So if your CPU and RAM are the same or hopefully above my sister's, you should be ok. Just don't expect miracles.

Heyyo,

MY GOD DUDE! with a pc like that? STEP AWAY FROM THAT VIDEOCARD!!! lol. :p

Get one that'll bring your PC justice. Get an ATI 9800 PRO, or a Geforce FX5700. Don't settle for less, you'll blame yourself forever if you do.

FX5200 is like, worse than a budget pc, that's lower-system specs. It'll kill your PC, no matter how buffed it is.

If you've still got warranty on that thing? try n' trade it back in for store credit n' use that to get a good videocard.

[EDIT]
Oh, just through of this, is your PC by chance a Helewet Packard, or someother big corporation computer? If so, they always go cheap on video cards. Which's why I hate big corporation computers.

Yeah, step away from the GeforceMX440. Touch only an X800 or a 6800.

You can't run a 6800 ultra because of it's crazy power requirments, and the x800 needs more CPU power than u have 3.2GHz is the minimum for the x800 to be happy.

Yeah really guys he said he's only got PCI, and maybe he can't afford hundreds of dollars for a gfx card. And by the way, whoever said "it has to be 6800 or x800" well Halo runs perfectly on the 9600XT and 5900 which cost about 1/4 or what those other cards do. The 9800 pro would be nice if you can stretch to that.

Heyyo,

Oh, it's you digimaster, ha ha, I'm blind. I didn't see your username. :p

PCI? oh, that's hardcore dude. If I were you, buy a new motherboard, see if you can get any tradein value for the one you have now, and then get a good video card.

No wonder you have a hard time noticing when I throw stickies on you for fun. =D

if you need a firsthand opinion, it's an ok card (i have it). i would rather have the 5700, but as i am on a very strict budget, it's the best i could get.
rember, it's a budget card, it's the best value for your money, but if you have more money, get a better card

Heyyo,

Seriously dude, I suggest you just buy a new motherboard for the meantime, and then once you get more cash to get a good videocard. Cause yeah, an fx5200 ain't much better than a Geforce 4 mx440. Cause it still runs bad, so you'll still need to lower graphics n' such to get decent frames, and the quality will barely change.

And remember, big company computers all suck insept Helewet Packard cause they're fully customizable. Dell, Compaq, are the 2 worsts, and others? well, I'd still avoid them just ot play safe. You can never go wrong getting a proplery built custom computer.

OH! one thing to do, to test how much money's worth you'll get outta a card is basic math. Do Frames/sercond divided by price. Then, the one with the higher number is more worth your money. Here's my example:

I'm using tom's Hardware VGA Chart IV: Far Cry benchmark (for Frames/Second), and www.ncix.com (for prices)

ATI X800 XT PE: 0.115 (Price: $799.98 F/S: 91.6)
MSI's Nvidia 6800 Ultra: 0.105 (Price: $819.25 F/S: 86.0)

Obviously ATI is the better bargain just by price and frames, this is just a more accurate way to test how much you get for your money than just by eyeing it. I'm sure you can do this test with anyother computer parts, or heck, anything you buy. Do quantity divided by price. higher number's the one to aim for. ;)

sorry to bump a topic thats over two months old, but wow, is that nice to know, i beleive i have somewhat the same card, minus pci, and even HaloPC runs choppy for me with everything turned down. now the cards alittle over a year old and im looking to upgrade, is there any card you guys highly recommend? or anything else that should be done to my comp to play this without all the choppiness? and preferably 1024x768 resolution, if at all possible. i should say money shouldnt be to much of an issue, cause i can always save ;), but keep it reasonable, lol.

System Specs:
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
512 PC3200 Kingston DDR RAM
_Graphics Card in link above_
DirectX 9.0b, XP Home SP1

like i said, sorry about the bump, and appreciate any help :)

You've got an AGP slot, right? Well then, I'd suggest the Radeon 9800 Pro if you don't want to spend top dollar. However, the gigabyte radeon x800xt can be found for $479, and it fits AGP, and is screaming fast. It will run almost any game at max graphics and run well. Otherwise, if you have PCI...well, that sucks =\

No problem with spending money: Some version of the x800 (xt?) - gigabyte is great, you can overclock it to the platinum edition and beyond! You can also get the nVidia 6600 AGP version, fast as well.

Don't want to bust your wallet: 9800 Pro - gigabyte, asus, msi, etc., all make good versions of the card for a bit cheaper
