In Halo 1, when you melee someone who is in a vehicle (even if you hit the person and not the vehicle itself) they take no damage. I know its sounds stupid but in Halo 2 i wonder if you will be able to do melee damage to someone who is in a vehicle provided you melee them and not the vehicle itself. That would be fun to barely sidestep an oncoming enemy ghost or something, take out the energy sword, and slice em out of the seat.....
Just something to think about.....

One time when playing AotCR, I was in a turret at the end of the first bridge and the elite with the sword came out. He just ran up and smacked the turret with his sword. The turret flipped and fell off the bridge. Do you guys think that you'll be able to flip vehicles with the sword. NOW THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! Anyway, to answer your question, that will probably happen. It would be pretty cool.

Ye of little vision...

I shalt suffer thy presence no longer foul elite! Feel the might of my just FURY!!!! *Cries out inarticulately and runs at a ghost, leaping into the air and clearing the ghost entirely with his new Halo 2 leaping ability. Looking down in mid-leap he slashes out with the plasma sword striking his enemy in the head and killing him instantly*

Yes... I plan on using the Plasma Sword throughout most of the game *lol*

But seriously, think about it, how many times have you been chasing around some guy in mp and you know hes almost dead, then you have to reload just as he gets in a vehicle and you melee him once he's in the seat and nothing happens.....until he does something like run you over, etc. I know that sounds like it doesnt happen often, but it's happened to me plenty of times and it probably has happened to you too and you dont realize it.

Also, I play Halo PC as well, and often im shooting away at someone in a shade turret at somewhere like gephyrobia and i'll jump up on top of them sitting in the turret and melee and i do no damage.

I really hope Bungie considers doing this......
It would make the games a lot more intense when it comes down to fighting against someone in a vehicle when you are on foot....

It's happened to me too. I think that if you melee a vehicle with a sword it should either flip or damage the vehicle, and if you melee the driver without the sword it should still hurt them. I've chased a few people who screen-looked me and just hopped in the gunner seat of a warthog just so I couldn't melee them and then they just turned around and kept blasting me with the gun. Either shot me or hopped out when I was right next to the gun and ended up behind me, cracking my spine in two with the butt of their gun. Of course, they didn't do it again cause if someone was running away, I wasn't gonna chase them for 5 minutes just to have them either turn around or hop in a vehicle. So I just started shooting them instead.

I like the idea of reinacting Morpheous vs the Escalade with a sword but I dont think it would work.

Hmm, an overall good idea. Meleeing somebody in a ghost should do some damage to them, provided you hit them and not the ghost.

I think being able to damage vehicles in multiplay with melee, or any other gun for that matter, is stupid. Vehicles themselves should be indestructible.

Yes, damaging the vehicles themselves thru melee is pretty dumb but what i mean is meleeing the people IN the vehicles. Meleeing the vehicle itself while someone is in it shouldnt do squat. But think about it, if you are driving on a motorcycle or something in real life, and someone punches you, you will feel it, whereas if they punch your bike they will just hurt thier hand and piss you off. Thats the kinda thing im trying to get at here but rather than a motorcycle im saying some kinda vehicle that leaves the driver / passenger / gunner exposed and open to direct attack, such as a ghost ot warthog (and especially the shade, many times have i jumped ontop of someone in a shade on halo pc and tried to melee them only to remember it doesnt work)

Yeah, but think about it. You're a super soildier that can flip a tank.... if you smack somebody's Warthog with your rocket launcher it should do a little damage. Or hell, it should at least flip it!

I think you can damage vehicles with melee attacks (not much, but damage nonetheless). If you look at the E3 demo after the warthog is blown to pieces, you can see that the Spartan smacks the dislodged tire, and I could almost swear the hubcap comes loose after the second whack or so. Melee damage to vehicles does make some sense after all. Spartans are so strong they smash people's bones even unintentionally, so at least giving a hog a very nasty dent isn't just impossible.

Oh, and as for the plasma sword, I think if you smack a vehicle with it I think the hog, ghost or whatever should be destroyed or at least very badly damaged. You're rending a huge hole in the bugger, so it should make somebody think twice before trying to run you down when you have a sword. . . . and kung-fu/matrix moves would be cool.

Yeah if you hit a vehicle with the Plasma Sword it's most likely going to blow up.

Well depending on the weapon it should do different melee damage.
I make some mods for halo pc sometimes and in all of them i make the weapon do melee damage according to size, shape, and how you melee with it.
So in halo 2 the amount of damage done to a vehicle due to a melee should be detemined by the weapon you smack it with.

Haven't you ever tried to stare down a Goldie with a Banshee or Ghost?

Boy was I surprised when I tried that and he blew me to kingdom come with that sword of his. If it can take out vehicles in Halo 1, I'm willing to bet it will in Halo 2.

yes, melee to the people, maybe some cosmetic damage to the vehicles
if you understand you cant melee people whilst they're in a turret/vehicle why still do it ?

Its easily forgettable when you are being shot at by a shade at close range, have to reload and need to get out of the way really quick.

heh well ok, i just tend to throw nades, or change weps if i need to finish someone off
also if they're in a hog turret and your close enought to melee them, and if your on the ground then they literally cant get an angle on you to shoot you, its funny to get under their firing line and apply a shotgun liberally to their upper torso

You should be able to shoot them right our of the seat, the person it the car or whatever can shake them off or boost them off
