Since we all have established that Halo 2 will be the best online Xbox game ever, wouldn't it be logical for it to seal the deal with online co-operative play? Doom 3 will have it, Serious Sam 2 will have it, and after all, who didn't love the amazing co-operative play in Halo? Being able to do this online would make things that much better. Has anyone heard about whether or not this will be included?

Yeah! I think that it is going to be implemented. Wouldn´t it be sweet if there were 16 Master Chiefs... and all controlled by humans!

I couldn't care less at the moment, and what if the graphics were compromised to make this possible? After all, it IS multiplayer. But, with a Halo-playing friend moving to North Carolina, it would be somewhat appealing to me. If not practical.

playing with friends or faithful people in co-op is amazing. obviously i would avoid smacktards by only playing with those on my friendslist anyway, and then it would most certainly be delicious. also, checking gamespot for this info...

EDIT: i couldn't find it. if you could link to it...

I would rather kill master cheif in multi player 16 peeps then play co-op. I can always call my freind up then he could come over

i saw in one of a preview that the graphics will not be as great online as it is on singleplayer. It's like that for all online games

I don't really care about online co-op, cause you could never really cooperate (keyword) with someone if you can't talk to them. Of course, if you have the headset then that's different. What I think that they should do is put up to four person co-op, all on one Xbox. Also, make four times as many enemies so that everyone gets some action.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about Xbox Live with co-op...I'm mostly wondering if they'll have system-link co-op. It'd be nice to have my own screen, because I'm sure the graphical power is going to be a hell of a lot higher than Halo1's.

Well of course, communication is key, which is why the Xbox Live Communicator will be essential to play online co-op, but it's there, so no worries, and sure, adding four-player would be fun, but I wouldn't want it to get to get overcrowded, where you lose that feeling of being surrounded by monsters because many are cleared out by the time you are even there. However being with a bunch of chiefs all playing together in two warthogs or something would be beyond super-awesome.

Indeed, I have a lot of Halo playing friends who are not in the state, as I recently moved to where I am now, so it would be awesomely practical to put it online. All multiplayer will have graphics quality go down, but I think that it is acceptable in exchange for such an amazing gameplay experience.

I think it would be fun to play online coop with several people...

It should run like Sven Coop did for Half-Life.... Turn it into a competitive game where killing gets your points:

Point System (how points are distributed)

Grunts
rank 1: 1
rank 2: 2
rank 3: 3
rank 4: 4
rank 5: 5

Jackels
rank 1: 2
rank 2: 4
rank 3: 6

Hunters: 5

Brutes: 7

Elites
Blue: 4
Red: 6
Gold: 9
Black: 12

Prophet : -30 (unless you have to kill them)

Covenant Controler Ghost: 15 points
Covenant Controled Shade: 10 points
Covenant Controled Creep: 20 points
Ect.

NOTE: this doesn't include those who are inside the vehicle

Negatives -

Injuring

Injuring a Marine: -10
Injuring an ODST: -20
Injuring another player (not shields, life bar if it is in Halo 2): -50
Injuring an important NPC: -50

Killing

Killing a Marine: -25
Killing an ODST: -55
Killing a fellow Spartan: -150
Killing an important NPC: -150

Special bonuses

Saving an almost dead character

Saving a Marine/ODST from sudden death (killing the one that would have killed them): 50 points (not including who was about to kill them)
Saving Teammate: 75 points
Saving Special NPC: 85 points

Combo's

A combo is when you kill several things at the same time, or quickly enough that they give you bonus points for doing so.... Combo's apply to both negative points as well as possitive points... Also note, if you get a negative point to the combo, it will end the combo right there and then.

How it works:
Say you throw a grenade into a pack of jackels (all lowest ranked), it would score like this:

first one killed: 2 points
second one killed: 4 points
third one killed: 6 points

then you quickly kill a grunt (black grunt, level 5)
Grunt will be worth 20 points instead of 5...

END

I think if they did it like that, it would be really fun to play =]... Saving peoples lives points would also possible make people work together more (since it rewards you with the most points)

Of course, there would be other factors, this post was to get you the idea of how my vision would work...

i'm sorry to dissapoind but it wont happen (over live anyway) simpley because BB doesn't offer enough bandwidth for the amout of data for the brilliant AI that has to be transfered from the host to the guests.

But if you should be able to play co-op over sys-link but they (bungie) said that they didn't have that in halo1 because of the same reason and an average network is 10000Kbyte/s while BB is 125Kbyte/s or 80x faster

I think a point system wouldnt work well, because one guy would run ahead of everyone else to get the most points and there wouldnt be any sort of co-operative play... and that is the whole point.

Yeah i like general foxs idea like when you kill more enemies at once it would like be worth more points, It would be like double kill, triple kill, or killtacular in muliplayer.

Sigh.. You don't share AI over the internet. The AI would be handled locally by the server, similar to the way bots are handled, and then the postition and actions of the characters would be sent to each client box. Then, the client box would render what is taking place in the server world.

How do you think gamers (clients) with broadband connections play 64 player multiplayer games on the PC?
