well, since we don't have a section in the forums(ironic) I have decided to post here

if I accidently revert to IM speak sorry about that, I'll try my bes t to not make it happen

Macintoshes have been excluded in the whole modding/ pwning(ya there are UB3R 1337 0nes of us)/creation commmunity of Halo, and yet our creativity is higher than our pc counterparts, to make a "custom" or "new" gun we have to make the model in Wings inject it with ObjConverter, and then appened it in HMT .75 (we never got a 1.0) , and then mod hex strings, and at the end all we get is a black(since it's a new model it dosn't have a skin, and we can't create a skin either) gun that shoots stock projectiles, and worst of all it dosn't even have a collision model, totally disilusioning the virtual reality. HMT .75 dosn't even save tags properly, if we had Custom Edition we could unleash our mapping potential, and I mean REAL mapping instead of the modding we do now. Other modders and I want to create bsp's of lush jungles, raggedy cliffs where snipers pop out and kill you, we want to make a new gun, a new vehicle, a new everything.

worst of all we can't even rip a Mythos or Covenant gun tower, I know, I've tried
all we can do is rip CE tags, and some don't even work properly

And now Prometheus is going to be released in the future, and yet our programmer for it is MIA and we won't even get to touch Prometheus with our UNIX OS.

So please Bungie, make our year and please make CE for mac, or release it for mac

now I know there are some reasons why it won't work, we'd need .dds exporter/importer, custom sounds and UI *might* have to be applied with a .ppf

if I left anything out any mac~modders here please add on
and if you have anything to say I'll be glad to listen

Bungie didn't make custom edition, Gearbox did. You could try dual booting your Mac in bootcamp and have half XP and half OS X.
I think it only works with version 10 so you could just try getting an OS upgrade

Bungie has absolutely nothing to do with Halo CE and most especially Halo for Macintosh. The folk you want to talk to our over at MacSoft, and I don't think they'll be releasing Halo CE ever. Supposedly they've had the code from WestLake since when they were finished with Halo CE, and I doubt they'll be releasing an update or a new version for a product that is already several years old and is unlikely to generate any more sales.

Sucks to be Mac user in these regards, I know better than most. Things have pretty much just sucked ever since Havok and GameSpy hit the scene.

Look on the bright side, at least if you buy a new Mac you can use Boot Camp and not have to deal with this crapola. Sucks having to Boot into Windows just to run a game, but that's better than not playing it at all.

Sorry, but CE will probably never be on a Mac. Gearbox made CE, and since they didn't work on the Mac version of Halo (I think) they probably won't make CE for Macs.

Thank god, another Mac enthusiast.

I'll warn you though, don't flaunt your Mac support around in The Maw. You will pay dearly. I learned that the hard way.

Unfortunately, there's no hope of Halo CE coming to the Mac. Gearbox developed it, rather than Bungie, and they show no interest in a Mac port. The best bet would be to get a hybrid Intel Mac, and use it in Windows more with Bootcamp.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

We've all learned that Bungie's Mac days are over. At least you have Halo! Try being a Linux user... then all you have is Cedega :P

If I remember correctly, some mad hacker (and Mac user) made an emulator that allowed CE (and a few other things) to run on Macintosh.

Last I heard Prometheus isn't going to be for mac.

Posted by: Nick
There will be no Mac version of Prometheus, as shadowkhas said. However, if you have an Intel Mac, you can dual boot XP / Vista with BootCamp or use Parallels to run Prometheus.

While there will be no executable capable of running on MacOS X, Prometheus will build map files compatable with Halo Mac.

Nick

Hate to ruin it for ya..
There are ways around it, like Nick said, but generally it won't be for Mac.

I once had to do a project for my Anatomy class, and I was at my friend's house, and he happens to be a Mac owner. I swear, I've never seen computers that have so much....bull-blam!-. Even DL'ing songs had to have problems, don't ever say that again, I don't even know how you can put it with restarting your comp 7 -blam!- times in a row.

Yay, I love it when people unnecessarily abuse the poll feature, especially when most of the time they don't even need to use the poll in the first place.

I don't hate Macs, I just don't think they're good for gaming as PCs are. Let's face it, it's not a case of whether Custom Edition will work/be released on Macs, but it's not likely to happen. Ever. I'm just saying.

I also don't believe that crap that Macs are more secure/stable than PCs. It's not just the software, the hardware, but the user. I've never had a blue screen of death on my computer, ever.

Once macs become more popular (read: if/most likely not ever) they'll have just as many problems as PCs. Think about it, what are most viruses/spyware/etc made for? To make money. Why would someone take time to program something specifically for less than (literally) 10% of the market?

They wouldn't.

yup, apples bragging about their virus free os, just you wait, there will be as much viruses for macs as there are for windows. Well that might be over exageratting, but apples probably pissing hackers off with it.

Virus for sale! Get your steaming hot Virus' fresh off the grill!

I'm pretty sure people create virus' to sow destruction and chaos throughout the internet. While it is possible to create a virus that steals your banking information or credit card numbers it wouldn't be much use to some poor lonely programmer living in Timbuktoo or Mudville USA...

You have a point about no one bothering to waste their time creating a virus for a mac. Answer me this Original Poster: If Mac's are so great, why do so few people use them, Hmm?

I think its amusing how people randomly hate mac users. Seriously, my friend just bought one and he isn't any different, and macs are generally the same as pc's, their software is just more expensive 0_o.

Well any mention of the Mac has devolved into a flame war as always.

All you Mac haters would do well to remember that there would be no Bungie.net, and you would not have this forum to bash Mac users on were it not for the Mac, and the rather dedicated fanbase that Marathon and Bungie's subsequent Mac releases generated.

Those days are long gone, and Mac gaming has sucked ever since Marathon became obsolescent.

Even if Bungie did give two shakes about the Mac, M$ is holding the financial reigns. Bungie is dead. Accept it.

As to the original post, Halo Custom Edition isn't coming to the Mac. Period. Accept it. While you're pining for Halo CE, why don't you add Half-Life 2, BF2, Dawn of War and a whole slew of other games to the list. You'll get the same results.

I'm happy to play any game on my Mac that actually makes it through, but I've learned not to hold my breath.

Meanwhile watching assinine PC users lambaste elitist Mac users is rather amusing.
