Hmm.... you were able to get a song from a title that is not even released posted to iTunes, yet Bungie seems to be having problems getting Halo 2 Vol. 2 in there. That makes sense.
FYI, all of the Halo soundtracks are available on the ITMS. This includes the Halo 1 OST, the Halo 2 Vol. 1 OST, the Halo 2 Vol. 2 OST, and the newly released "Finish The Fight" single.
I agree that it should have been free, but I'm also willing to pay $.99 to get a piece of music that I absolutely love. In fact, I did about 2 hours ago. I own an iPod and love iTunes, so there's no downside for me :)
It's also possible that the decision wasn't MS's or even Bungie's, but Marty's alone. He probably owns the intellectual rights to the music he composes, which enables him to do with it what he pleases. Right now, iTunes is reaching a larger consumer base than the Zune; if you want to push music, the ITMS makes perfect financial sense.
This is all speculation, mind you. We may never know what drove Marty/Bungie/MS to release the piece on iTunes. But if you feel the need to complain, I'd suggest you either download iTunes (new accounts aren't hard to make at all), or just not complain period. After all, it is your choice that you've decided not to use iTunes. Not aimed at anybody specific, just in general.
BTW Marty, amazing score. I've been waiting for a while to hear just the music :D
