One special thing I'd LOVE to see in Halo 2:

One of my favorite tricks in Halo1 was to pepper a Warthog with shots from a pathetic weapon like the plasma pistol or sniper rifle. (pathetic against a warthog) They'd laugh at how stupid I was by taking them on with such a puny weapon way out in the open and move in to run me down. At about forty feet away I'd whip the invisible rocket launcher out of my pocket and take him down point blank while laughing my arse off.

Would it be too difficult to take a two handed weapon and hang it on the enemy's back with part of the weapon sticking out over the shoulder? Couldn't we put the spare one handed weapon at the Spartan's hip?

I really think it would be cool strategically if you could scope in with a sniper rifle and tell your companions what weapons they were about to go up against before they engaged.

It would make the game much more realistic, but I'm sure Bungie had done this, ran into to problems with it and had to take it out.

That would be sweet! It would kinda be like Ninja Gaiden in a way where you can see his sword on his back when he isn't using it. I could just imagine the look on my opponent's face when I reach behind my back to haul a Jackhammer on my shoulder with them in the crosshairs.

ya, they also did that on brute force. worked pretty well too, i dunno why they don't do that, it'd be pretty nice.

Yes, I wouldn't even mind if the weapon "floated" in that spot. Brute force characters didn't really "holster" their weapons either and a few more weapons on the map isn't going to push the polygons past their limits.

It could also be handy in team play as well if you can still exchange weapons in Halo2 or in the formation of strategy. Seeing that your friend has the rocket launcher or the sniper rifle let's you make a plan on the fly. Such as, "Davey, slip over there behind that rock. I'll use my battle rifle to get them to head this way with the hog then once they start trying to keep me down with the LAAG you get him."

Yes, but their rifles would magically "float" on their backs, not in holsters. I was admitting that I was happy with that.

Well in Rainbow Six 3 it was done, i'm pretty sure Bungie could do it too if they wanted to.
