And Odin MC, I will go against the grain here. I would suggest that you let your son listen to some of the talk on XBL. He is going to hear it someplace and he might as well hear it when you are around so that you can explain to him that they are not appropriate words. The REd vs Blue webseries is loaded with cursing adn many times my sister (who is 6) has walked into my room when one of the characters is swearing like a sailor. I just tell her that they are not words that she should use, and that some people just feel the need to use them to sound tough or they use them as a sort of comedy. She has never repeated any of the words that I have explained to her. The only one she has ever said was "hell" and I have never said that around her nor has she ever heard it in a RvB episode, she heard it when we we're helping my aunt move. Then later she repeated it in front of a whole crowd of people while we we're getting ready to do a hot air balloon tether for a party (my dad is a pilot) and this caused extreme embarrasment on my parents part.
Basically what I am trying to say is, let him hear the words, and then explain to him what they are and that he shouldn't use them. Otherwise he is bound to hear them someplace else and then use them without fully understanding what they are.

Well it really depends who your playing with, i mean if its a bunch of stupid cockey 15 year olds well they dont shut up. And if u would like him to be able to play, you could always go for the second xbox approach and you can be on with him. But if he plays mechassault, etc. the people are usually pretty cool and have a laugh, instead of swearing. I dont like rainbow 6 cuzz if someone dies they're like ''WTF IS THAT THATS BS FCKU THIS GAME YOU MFER. Nuf Sed.

There are very few people under the age of ten on Xbox Live, so you're going to get things that a five year old kid should not be subjected to. There is no way around not having him subjectd to anything offensive, exept by not getting Live. On the other hand, Halo is a game designed around killing as entertainment, it's not on a par with GTA that tells you to kill cops trying to bring you to justice, but is a game that has a deal of violence, so he already has been influenced by some thing in the game that will or already have changed his personality, the only way to shelter anyone from anything such as profanity and mildly offensive refferences from other things, is to lock them in a padded room, so basicly if you dan't like whats going on at Xbox Live, don't get it. No one will change what they do just because a child is in the room.

Well, unfortunately there IS a lot of profanity on XBL. I can certainly say that I wouldn't let a 5 year old on there, poor kid. As much as I hate to say it, the XBL community is full of cocky 15 year old kids, who think every 3rd word has to start with F and end with K.

I am 15 and have played XBL since it came out and I play it all the time. There have been days when I have nothing to do and I am on XBL for nearly 15, 20 hours a day. Doesn't happen often, but it's happened.

I have never found a 15 year old like that.

The majority of the guys that "act tough" and think they are hot stuff are the older guys who say "Wait until your balls drop you f****ng c**k s****r" to 10 and 11 year olds.

I have to be honest with you. The majority of the 10, 11, 12 and 13 year olds annoy the hell out of me. Either they shoot their own team mates, start screaming loudly etc. That's why I host so I can boot people. Not all of them, though. I have met some cool younger kids.

One of the reasons I stopped playing Mech Assault is because of the number of idiots on that game. Well EVERYONE will be getting Halo 2, even the idiots. If you guys want to find an idiot free game, add me to your list. My connection is good so I host, I don't hesitate to ban, and if I get enough friends online Ill make all private rooms.

In reference to the first post, I would have him play as your guest and you have the mic. I once did play a 5 year old on RS3 who was REALLY good. I knew he was 5 because I played his dad a couple of times. This kid cursed more times in one session than anyone. You dont want that happening to little kids but cursing will happen. People get frustrated and in a close game some people just tend to scream out F**K when they die or other things. I really dont care, though. And seriously what is wrong with corpse humping? I remember a while back some member posted a thread here saying how disrespectful it is.

IT IS A GAME. And its not like the MC can get pleasure through all of that armor.

BESIDES MOST OF THE WORDS HE WILL NOT KNOW AND IT HELPS BUILD TRUST

( i know i m in caps)

I'm 15 too, and I am saying that because a lot of my friends are like that, and it disgusts me. I'm pretty good about not using profanity, but I'm saying that in general a lot of kids arn't.
