And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

I've been wondering that for a while, the humans would obviously be pretty valuable warriors, especially with the handful of Spartans left, and their weapons are pretty deadly, so why aren't the Covenant trying to assimilate them into their caste? If you are going to say "Because they are unholy creatures in the eyes of the Covenant" or something, tell me, why do the prophets think that?

Because that is how the Bungie team wants it to be.

Because the Prophets work in mysterious ways. Kinda like ninjas..... except they're more senile and they get around on floating chairs.

Wrong. The Covenants wants to kill the humans. They just dont know where they are. When they do, they dont get the chance to live to tell the other covenant where they are.

The Prophets see the Humans as vermin, like the Flood, that needs to be killed, because they stand in the way of "The Great Journey"

Why they just randomly kill us, is unknown.

They also view Humanity primitive, possibly too much so to be counted as Intelligent.

Also, it has never been their goal to kill all of Humanity, just to get to the Forerunner artifacts.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

there was never any real reason if you follow all of the info provided by the stories. even within in the ranks of eltes there is confusion on the subject. mind elites hold humans in no high regard, but they would have been valuable as a more effective "grunt" so to speak.

if you ask me my opinion i would say because the prophets feel threatened by them. they see that humans are very creative and follow a steady path of innovation, where the covenant follow's one of immitation (forerunner tech to be specific). thus the prophets percieve humanity to be a threath based on what they may one day become superior.

  • 12.22.2006 10:54 AM PDT

I expect the real reason is because th humans are all around the Forerunner tech. Because the humans evolved on the same planets/same galaxies.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Im asume that sense we are evolved from monkies thats the Aliens hate us!

If they assimilated the humans, they could keep a watchful eye under them, and make sure they don't get too powerful.

There has to be a good reason they attacked the humans, it's not like they woke up one day and said "Hey, let's start wiping out some random race for no apparant reason!"

Maybe it was real estate issues? But that's unlikely, because non of the human controlled planets are suitable for any Covenant, but then again, if it was for the space, they could yet again assimilate.

I guess we won't know until Halo 3, or the last novel.

No one really knows 100%
Humans have a tendancy to become upset when being violently oppressed and have tendancy to make rebelions and stuff, we wouldn't be like grunts, so maybe they figure we are to uncontrolable to be allowed into the covenant.

It probably has something to do with the Forrunners as well...

Uh, that was a bit too far for a joke (if it was), and please try to include an answer with your post. And try not to post religiously, it tends to start flame wars.

its because the covies have seen the forrunner tech and know how unbeleivably dangerous it is, and they know/think we ARE the forunners, so theyre scared we have all that stuff and were gonna kill them with it and the rings arent covie-friendy (WE are the reclaimers) so they think we WANT to kill them so theyre trying to kill us before we can kill them with something forunner.

This is more of a halo 2 question, as you know, from what I gathered from wikipedia, from a bit in "conversaions in the universe", two elites that were on a ship, actually had some respect for the humans after the battle on Halo, managing to fight very well on halo.

The sangheili wondered why the prophets haven't given them the obtion of joining the covenant? They end their conversation when some brute walks by.

Maybe it was real estate issues?

In Halo 2, did the hologram of the prophet of regret not say "the humans have impeded our access to holy sites" or something like that? Then the Ark is also on Earth thus his impeding remark. Also, mostly every planet (In the book) that the humans happened to be on was originally inhabited by the Forrunners.

Thats my logic.

Wouldn't they have just contacted the humans and politely request them to stay out of there way? That would save a helluva lot of ships and firepower.

As we all know, the covenant had been covertly been watching us, and during the spy, the prophets knew that the humans were connected, if not the forerunners themselves. The prophets clearly know more about the humans, and there connection to there forerunner ancesters than the humans themselves ever knew.

They saw them as a threat to being higher beings than the prophets themselves would ever be, or at least the prophet, truth, knew about it, so they look at the down sides of humanity, and they used that as an excuse to exterminate them.

Calling the humans, lowly beings with a disgraceful technology, that must be exterminated.

The elites themselves wondered why the they couldn't allow the humans to join the covenant, after the chronicle of the destruction of Halo CE.

Most of what I said is an opinion, but it may be fact in the Halo universe.

Hmm, is that a theory, or is it from something?
