Subject: So why aren't the Covies trying to assimilate the humans?

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

honestly i think it is just simple politics. covenant see the possible threat of humans, no group of people or country or whatever likes to feel threatened. considering that they posses far great technology it would make more sense to do something about the humans sooner rather then later. it isn't hard to see human ingenuity at it's best, from sticks to rocks to spears to canons, to guns, to bombs to nuclear and chemical weapons. from the most insignificant things that couldn't kill a person very efficiently we have developed weapons that can destroy thousands of lives and render a world uninhabitable. all within about 2200 years.

the more time you give humanity to think they more creative and effective ways they will find to destroy both themselves and others.

All bless humanity, and it's craving for destruction.

To play or not to play....

Noone really knows for sure.

The Prophets see humans as filth and want us all destroyed. Several other Covenant races seem to hate us purely because they are following the orders of the Prophets or have a grudge.

The Elites are a different matter. Many Elites questioned the war on humanity seeing humans as clever and intelligent. Some Elites were asking why the Prophets didn't like humans so much as humans clealy showed some innovation and could very well prove to be valuable allies.

I never really understood why the Prophets hate humans so much. It seems to be more than a simple dislike or grudge. The Prophets seem to actively hate humans on a basic level and really want us destroyed.

I think the fact that humans are deemed to be reclaimers is a big point here. Perhaps the Prophets see humans are being favoured by the Forerunners and as such are a big threat. The Prophets are basically using the quest for Forerunner knowledge as a means to retain their power over the Covenant. Now that several races (particularly Elites) are learning the truth behind Halo humans are becoming even more of a threat than ever before.

Another reason the Prophets may hate humans is simply because we are reclaimers and as such were the race that essentially activated Halo in the past. As such we are the race who killed off the Forerunners who the Prophets see as God like.

The Prophets see activating Halo as being essential to their great Journey. So if you think about it why would the Prophets hate us for activating Halo last time round. Shouldn't the Prophets thank us for sending the Forerunners on their great journey?

Humans do not want to activate Halo this time round. This goes against the Prophets wishes. Humans also invade and take over several Forerunner installations and sacred sites. This is seen as vile and unforgivable in the eyes of the Prophets.

In short I think the Prophets hate humans simply because we are either favoured by the Forerunners or possibly are Forerunner decendants. This poses a great threat to the Prophets in their quest for the great journey and power. The Prophets want the Forerunner technology all to themselves. Humans are basically the rightful eirs to the throne (so to speak).

Good point/s . We humans are a strange race eh. Humans are very intelligent yet we seem set to ultimately destroy ourselves. If I was religous I would almost say humans were created that way on purpose to stop us getting to intelligent. However I just think it is a bit of growing pains. Humans are relatively young in the galactic scheme of things and over time we will learn to get along and stop being so mischievious.

It is human nature to be rebellious and to seek to become better than your neighbour. A primitive instinct I know but it is one that humans have great difficulty getting over. Despite being extremely intelligent humans are still bound by basic instincts and desires.

At the moment humans are learning faster than we are becoming "ready" for the knowledge we are aquiring. However, hopefully, humanity will learn to settle down and get along with one another. Then we will become an awesome race indeed :)

when the census came around, for religion I put Bungie.

I think they see us as a threat (or at least the prophets). I mean the elites are wondering and I ma sure some other races of covanant ar wondering I mean wats wrong with us! we learn fast and never give up if we are backed into a cornor. I think I read somwhere or mabye it was even in the game.....I cant remember but somone said that the humans get fiercer and fiercer the farther into that cornor you push them.

Good theories, I just think the prophets knew all along the humans were related to the forerunners, and if that were true, that would go against the covenants beliefs, seeing as how the all the forerunners went on a great journey to some divine dimension.

And if the covenant were to discover that we humans are related to the forerunners, we would be like gods to the covenant, stealing the prophets power over the covenant, so they decide to exterminate us.

And of course, seeing as how the sangheili are beginning to question the motives of the great prophets, they have the brutes, who hate the elites, who can exterminate the elites. Seeing as how the brutes are just as devoted to the covenants beliefs, but are quite ignorant, being temple guards most of the time.

Anyway, that's my conclusion.
