What bothers me, is not the fact certain people can't spell, but because they don't even try.
Let's say, someone who doesn't have good grip on the English language makes a post. it's full of grammatical errors, but he apologizes for it. He tried. I don't see why that's so bad. Hell, we can even be nice to the lad, and help him correct his mistakes.
On the other hand we have little Timmy. Timmy speaks English. His mother is English, his father is American, and his grandfather is Australian. Unfortunately Timmy, is lazy. Thus, he makes posts like this: LIEK LAL, I TyPe lik tis BEcausE im Lzy.
EDIT: whoops, made actual mistakes. :P
I understand that. I hate it when people, either due to lethargy or just pure ignorance, obliviously spell and easy word incorrectly.
Yes, there is the 1337 sp33k, which drives me up the wall, because I can barely understand it. It's when people make posts like:
"did u notis how jhonson dos dat tihng at teh edn of halo 2 wen he tels off tarataus adn da ohter broots in teh room dat was lyk way awsum!11!!1"
No grammar, no sense of correct spelling nor purpose, it's just mindless, annoying rambling. And I have actually seen posts like that. Travel to Halo 3, New Mombasa or The Flood. That's why I like The Underground and The Septagon. Slow, but smart.
But it's the prior example I'm yearning to eliminate. Pure oblivious, negligent ignorance. I saw a post yesterday, not that long, shorter than yours I'm quoting, JaF, and it had about twelve obvious spelling errors in there. It was spelled like "Jhonson", "profet", "kan", "dialaugue", "dought", real obvious things that everyone should know.
One of the reasons I'd like to eliminate this is because I stand behind the belief that Bungie.net is a very intelligent, well-educated website. I like to believe that it's not your MySpace, or places like that which are coated with idiocy, like to think it's a very nourishing place to be for intelligence, and I want for it to give off that appearance, because that's what I see. Unfortunately, it's hard to show that attribute when it is blocked by... well, Halo 3, New Mombasa and The Flood, which the nature of speaking is rather prominent.
