You run up the steep snowy slope, your shields recharging from blue team’s ambush on your rocket warthog. Your driver is dead, you have barely escaped from a barrage of grenades. Do they know you’re alive? They might, but that’s why you snuck away, climbing up a snowy cliff, pistol ready to kill anyone you see with 3 well placed headshots. Soon as you get up the hill, you’ll be ready to get yourself a much needed med pack, and then---. Your screen shakes, fire engulfs your visor, your shields drop 75%, you quickly find cover behind a rock, as a three round burst hits the snow exactly where you were a second ago. You wait for your shields to recharge, a well placed frag grenade will finish you of if it lands near you. You run from behind the rock, charging the blue Spartan dressed in bulky Mjolnir armor, you recognize it from the Halowars announcement trailer. The night sky and snow reflected in his visor. WHOOSH you sidestep as the Spartan fires a grenade at you. You fire 4 shots, you fail to hit him in the head, but his shields fall as the last bullet in your clip is fired. A 3 round burst hits your armor, you see your shields surround your hands as they pop. Reload? You can’t risk it, if he shoots your done for. You holster your pistol and you pull out a new gun. With a flick of your wrist, the blades from the front of your new weapon snap down. It’s the Brute Spiker. WHOOSH! You dodge another grenade, it detonates in the snow around you, your shields stop charging, and you open fire at him. Orange spikes impale his armor, as flames spread from the super heated slag. He falls to the ground, smoking. You hear the roar of a warthog engine, and spin around. Grab the dead blue Spartan’s Battle Rifle with the grenade attachment, you spin around, fire the last grenade, and the hog slightly tilts, the gunner jumps out as the hog falls 30 feet. Is the driver alive, you don’t know, but the gunner runs towards you, he’s close, and he’s holding a new shotgun, it’s wide, and has a flashlight attached to the side. He fires 12 pellets at you. You have once chance, impale him with your Spiker’s blades. You rush towards him, the air is full of pellets and molten slag. The blue Spartan fires his shotgun again, and you fall to the ground dead. He stands over you, in his unique armor seen in the CMT SP mod. You look at your own armor. It’s the armor you wore back in 2001, when Halo came out. Except you see every detail, broken paint and it is cracked. Beep Beep Beep, you respawn at your base. You pick up a MA5C, it’s yellow ammo counter shows 14 rounds left in the magazine. You take your time to reload it, and the counter flashes blue and reads 32 rounds remaining. With the improved ammunition, and greater accuracy, it will help you if you run into another Spartan using a Battle Rifle Grenade Launcher, or a pistol user. You run to the teleporter, and grab a BRG, just in case you encounter another hog. You run through the teleporter, and grab an overshield. You jump off the forerunner structure, and inside you see a new weapon. You run and pick it up, dropping your brg. It’s large, and you mount it on your shoulder. You see a hog in the distance, 70 feet away. You hold the trigger, and a light at the end begins to get larger and larger, after three seconds, a red lance of light flies from the end, travels through the air, and hits the warthog. The passengers shields glow, and the hog tips over from the futuristic laser. The passengers fall out, and the beam moves over through them, as their shields drop and they fall the ground dead. Steam billows from where your laser has impacted the snow, and flames dance across a tree you accidentally hit. This could very well be a scenario of Vestige, one of the new CMT multiplayer maps.



What is this? Halo 3? Nope, it’s the latest Halo CE mod by the CMT mod, nearly a year in the making. It doesn’t feel like a mod, it feels like a new game. Yes halo fans, everything you just read you will be playing soon, no detail exaggerated, not from the snow and sky reflected in the visor, to the Spartan laser lighting tree’s on fire, to the Ma5c with its new color changing display which reflects the amount of ammo left in your gun. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the new features in CMT MP. If you are a member of the www.h2vista.net forums, you can head on over to the CMT exclusive forums right now, and take part in the public beta. Soon as we know everything is bugless, we will release the rest of the multiplayer maps. Numerous things have happened since the last release, of the CMT single player mod, which was downloaded in over 97 countries. This Christmas day blowout will unveil everything we have been working on, including multiplayer, Updated Single player (re-designed with co-op mode in mind), Halo 1 xbox, and Halo 2.



While most of our efforts have been in multiplayer maps, we have made great strives in single player. Please note, we do not have much of the new single player in a presentable form, but everything described bellow WILL be included in the final SP release. The biggest complaint about single player, was the lack of the ability to save your game and come back later, this has been fixed, along with the missing strings error. The second was the humongous download file size. Using a hacked bitmaps.map, the file size’s of the original release have been greatly reduced. There were also complaints of system performance. All new CMT models have been professionally LOD’d (Level of Detail). The mod now runs only around 10 FPS lower than the original halo, which is very good, considering how much new content has been added. There were gameplay complaints as well, such as the overpowered dropships, with huge wraith style cannons, the library level being to boring, and the game was to easy. All have been fixed. The new CMT SP mod bridges the gap between Halo 1 and Halo2, while including new content seen in the upcoming, Halo 3. In the library, flood will drive vehicles.

The dropships have been replaced by the Phantom dropships. The phantoms are destroyable like the CMT spirit dropship, but you can now also disable their attack guns, which are not annoyingly overpowered, like in the fist CMT SP release. Ripped Phantoms from Halo 2 have been added ingame, as a placeholder while the custom model (based on the trailer from E3 2003) is in development. CMT uses all original content, no ripped models or bitmaps from Halo 2 will be in the final release. Bellow is an ingame version of Bungie’s model from Halo 2. We hoped to show you our custom model, but GX shadow who was modeling it had a computer problem last minute. We will show it in the next update.

You may also notice, that all the SP levels have been redone, with new lightmaps to suit any of the modifications, something we did not have time to do in the original SP release. Also, cut from the SP release was fake real time reflections for the chief’s visor. With over 20 for the new SP release, you can see the swamp of 343 Guilty Spark reflected in your visor, to the canyons of Assault on the control room, to the destroyed halo ring in the games final cutscene. You will see these also in the multiplayer maps. New vehicles are also in development.



Another complaint was that you fought alongside other Spartan-II’s, this is also being removed, and they are being replaced with the Spartan-III cybernetic soldiers featured in Ghosts of Onyx. Jayden created concept art, based on the cover of the book. While the model is in development, it is still too early to show. We can say that the new AI for them is superb, they are worthy allies, and will seek cover, and no longer charge head first into battle like the halo 1 marines. Whether they will have working camouflage in SP has yet to be seen. They are capable of using new guns, such as the Spartan laser, and the MA5k gun described in the Ghosts of Onyx. They are also capable grenade throwers, something ALL AI can now do in the updated mod. The biggest AI change, is something that most were disappointed with in Halo 2

“The transient Contact was back, a shadow moved around the pillar John used for cover, It moved faster than an elite, -- as fast as John. He fired his rifle point blank into the shadowy silhouette. It didn’t slow-- it only howled with rage.” Yes, the Brutes are coming to halo 1. This concept has been in development since September, well before the “Et Tu Brute?” documentary. Over 60 custom animations have been made from scratch for the brutes. We have several of them set up for download at your pleasure.

With the release of the “Et Tu Brute?” will be revised, and a Halo 3 model will be constructed. Also included in the new mod, will be the brute sandbox of weapons, including Brute Plasma Rifles, Brute Shots, and everyone’s favorite molten slag wielding weapon, the Spiker. Unlike Halo 2 or Halo 3, you will not be seeing a civil war inside the covenant, but for the first, and possibly last time in the halo universe, be fighting the Elites and the Brutes when they are allies in the covenant. Our Brutes are nothing like the ones you have fought in Halo 2. They are fast and smart, they work in teams, they do not charge not act like bullet sponges, they are not afraid to march on to kill you, even when you have retreated to a “safe spot” you might have used in Halo 1. They will flank you, they will enter buildings to find out, and they will do their best to give you no place to hide or run. They are smart, and they are animals, and they can be anywhere at any time. These new enemies will change the way you played Halo 1 for the past 6 years.

Luckily, there are new weapons to help you fight them.

In Singleplayer, there are several SP exclusive weapons to combat Brutes, that will not be included in multiplayer. These include the brute plasma rifle, the Brute shot, the portable turret, and the Sluggun. You are familiar with the Brute PR and the Brute shot, the Brute PR will not be included in mp, due to it would merely be a clone weapon, while the bounce system for the Brute shot doesn’t work well over the netcode. The Sluggun, is a new shotgun, with an under loading chamber, where explosive slugs(think super huge pistol bullets, that explode on impact and release tons of shrapnel) will be loaded.

This gun can take out a brute in a few well placed hits. The other gun, is the portable turret. Seen in Halo2, but not usable to the player, these can be set up at any location the player chooses, and they can unload a hailstorm of lead into any target they choose. When your backed into a corner, and you need to make your last stand, this is what you can use for holding the enemies off. It is not included in MP, due to it’s ability to crash an online game (it will not crash single player). Yet the new big feature, is brought to you by the two newest CMT members, Pkmnrulz and Tweek.

Over the summer, after the release of CMT SP, PK and Tweek began their own, custom SP level from scratch. When school started back up, the project was abandoned, until Tweak played a beta of the CMT MP maps. He and PK decided to join CMT, and work with us to finish the map. The map is currently about the length of the level “Halo” and takes place on unseen facilities on halo. While there is no “real” plot to it, you the player will navigate an underground facility, fight your way to the surface, and launch a full out assault against the covenant. It is planned to tie into the Pr-Xbox Halo 1 demo, shown at E3. Bellow are pics of the map, which is still in the alpha stages.

CMT SP V2 also supports co-op for the Xbox, which will be released hopefully not long after the PC version. There is no possible way to do it on Halo PC or CE. We will have more on this when we have more to report.

There is nothing more exciting to the CMT mod, and Halo modders everywhere than Halo 2 Vista, and the editing kit included. While we don’t know exactly which of our crazy idea’s will work in it, we are going to port this multiplayer mod for CE over to it, while adding new features which the new engine will allow. Dual Wielding opens a lot of new options to us, although we are not exactly sure what we can do with it. The beautiful thing about vista, is how we can expand the current mod. We have a battle rifle, with a grenade launcher in Halo CE. We hope to be able to use dual wielding to be able to add a grenade launcher to any type of rifle, such as the Br, or the AR. Also, important, is the fact we can have 2 bipeds in at once. While we have something similar in CMT H1 MP, we can do so much more in H2. With the Spartan-III’s for our CMT SP V2, we can also use them in H2Vista. Players will have the option to be able to be either the durable heavy armored Spartan-II, but also be able to be a fast and nimble, camouflaged Spartan III. Sure you can’t take large amounts of damage, but who needs to worry about that when you are camouflaged, and faster than your opponent. Expect David VS Goliath battles in Halo 2 vista. We have plans to re-work vehicle combat, to make it fun again. CMT however, loves Halo’s single player, and as soon as we can edit Single player on Halo2Vista, you can bet we will be on to re-create the Halo 2 SP experience.


Last of all, not seen in the pics, is the Custom HUD. While the H2 HUD is fine, we started a new one. All of it is done, except for the weapon HUDs. Here is a concept pic of it. Right now the mod uses a hybrid of the H2 and the Custom HUD, but as more maps come out in the future, this will fully replace the current HUD. It will also be our main HUD in Halo2.

So is this all that there is? Nope. We are ready to release the CMT MP mod for CE, but before we do, we are doing a public beta! This is to ensure everything works, nothing is overpowered, no exploits are found, and most of all, it is balanced. CMT_Fragment is up for download, and we will continually update the public beta, until it meets your satisfaction. When we are sure the mod is flawless, we will release several MP maps, including, CMT_Coagulation, CMT_Deltaruins, CMT_Fragment, CMT_Abandoned, CMT_Vestige, and CMT_Dissolute. Loving the HUD! One question though, what does ''Rifle" mean on the grenade slots?

And, since my PC is crap and all, how would I get the CMT MP for my Xbox version of Halo? My Xbox has just been sitting there since I got my 360. I dont use it anymore. I need a reason to start playing it again..and I've been too lazy to get H2CE, lol.

The S-III thing in Vista sounds like it will be very cool. I think you should port more skins in from the Halo 2 campaign, like the Arbiter, Honor guard Elites, Brutes with shields, etc.

Ya. The beauty of the new HUD is we can easily add in a new weapon, all it needs is pickup icon and hud icon, and it can use the same ammo meter as another. Same with the nades. We can make it go lower down, if we are putting a new type of nade in, or if we add in sonething like a shotgun attachment.

speaking of which, i love the new shotgun. It's a lot more powerful, but it has a slower rate of fire and reload. My main aesthetic issues are that the PP punch has the hand disappear much to quickly and the BR melee blocks your FOV. Other than that there are a few issues like shotgun sound effects being off and the announcer's voice being cut off.
