I have a really nice computer and it was hooked up to my TV while i was waiting to get a new monitor and everything worked fine. Now after Christmas i got a 19 inch monitor and i cant get into halo CE it loads up but when it gets to the main menu all i see is my desktop i press the windows button and nothing happens i click on the halo ce symbol down at the bottom and it wont come up i can hear the music but i cant see the image. But a funny thing is that Halo PC works just fine. Can anyone plz help me.

Reinstall, and then update with 1.07 patch.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Perhaps you left the resolution setting for CE at something that your new monitor does not support which is causing the game to throw you back to the desktop.

I would hook back up to your old monitor and manually set the resolution to something that you know your new monitor will accept.

Hopefully that made sense...this has happened to me a number of times when switching displays.

well i turned the res down as low as possible and that didnt work and to exit have to press left on the keys and enter like im exiting from the main menu and instead of just exiting normally it gives me an exception.

also i went from a 50 inch dlp tv to a 19 inch LCD monitor i left that out because i didnt think it would matter.

but when i open it up its like its open but instead of seeing the main menu for halo all i see is my desktop.

Sorry, my help ends there. I haven't had CE installed on my PC for over a year so I can't troubleshoot with you.

I would reinstall CE completely if you can.

You likely left your tv set as your default monitor. Right click you desktop and select "settings". Then click on you monitor and make it you main display.

Tunr off Firewall. Unlike Halo PC Halo CE requires an internet connection to play. Your firewall may be a sadistic bastard (I.e Norton anti Virus.). Some internet security programs are so aggressive they will not allow anything to connect to the internet without you allowing it. Try turning it off if you have one.

For everyone else who reads this Panda Titanium Virus and Spyware protection is a awesome program. Not many people know about it yet though. Unlike Norton which can be bought in every business outlet store (I.e Staples, Best Buy, Future Shop).

I have had it for 5 months now and i think that it is AMAZING. It has blocked over 8551 spyware attaches in the last 30 days and over 100 viruses. Unlike Norton it's not very aggressive but will warn you if you computer is in trouble.

well i tried what artillery said but it was already the primary monitor. then i heard somewhere else that it could be that i only have a DVI cord plugged into the monitor and i plugged in the VGA and nothing changed. This is really annoying. plz help.

DVI and VGA cables are not supposed to be used at the same time, and it doesn't matter what kind you are using. DVI simply yields higher-quality images than VGA via a direct transmission of digital signals rather than a conversion at one end and a reconversion on the other (Image quality is lost during the conversions)
