Counter-Strike. You'll have hours of fun once you get into it. You can get it with Half Life 2, which is definitly worth playing, even if you haven't played Half Life.
Battlefield 2 is a really good game too, but somewhat less stable, and filled with TKers, -blam!-s, blah blah. But if you can manage to find a good server, then it is also worth it. A problem though, would be that to really have the same assets as others, you need to buy the expantion, which allows you to unlock much better weapons than in BF2. It's unfair, but whatever.
Call of Duty. It's kind of old, but a really good game to have. Not CoD2. Call of Duty, and the expantion pack, CoD: United Offensive. I think they sell them in value packs now, with both CoD and CoD: UO for like 50 or 60 bucks.
Halo PC is cool too (hey this is the HPC forum...)
