I'm looking to buy a video card soon. Before I was going to buy the Radeon X1300 PCI, but I now have money to replace my motherboard. I'm thinking of the Radeon X1600 Pro, and the GeForce 6800 sounds good as well. I'm looking for a PCI-E card within the price range of $100-120.Let me also mention that this card is not just to play Halo, but some of the newer games as well.[Edited on 12/26/2006]

If you can spend an extra $20 or so, I would suggest the 7600 GT KO, but only if you are getting a SLI motherboard to later add another. I have that card, and it has yet to not perform well.If you plan on using the rebate, it would be in your price range, then. But I have heard that it might not work. Give it a go if you plan on using my suggestion.
agreed, get the 7600gt.
I would suggest pretty much the above, except do not go for SLI.
If you're planning on playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent (SC4), you'll need a card that supports Shader 3.0. That includes Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT and higher, as well as ATI Radeon x1400 and higher.Raptor
Anything from the Nvidia 6500 to Nvidia 7900gt is a good bet. You can get 6000 series pretty cheap max $100 though the 7900 gt will probley be $299.99. But the direct X10 is going to be released soon so you may be better off wating for that. For ATI and of the Radeon cards are good. I'm not that familler with them though.A good graphics card will run you about $150.00 to $200.00.
You know what, that 7600 looks good, I'm going to see if I can get the extra money.
I just got a 7600 for christmas. I can run ALL of my games at there mx resolution with all of the specs up at a solid 75 fps. Before I couldn't do 640 x 480 at 20fps. I didn't even touch the rest of my machine, the cards that good.
Has anyone got the 8800?
nVidia GeForce 7900GT is good. And yeah, the ATI Radeon X1600Pro will do you well.

Posted by: vincent5Has anyone got the 8800?any 8800 is more than $350 more than you are looking to spend.
